The South Australian stewards made the big call to postpone the races on Saturday as a result of the nationwide TAB outage. Punters haven’t had to wait long for those who had done form for the meeting, as the remaining seven races are set to be run and won on Monday afternoon under the same conditions with scratchings being reinstated if connections wish to race.
It was a hard watch for favourite backers when this Ryan Balfour gelding went around in the final race on the card a fortnight ago. He was trapped four wide with no cover just off the pace and was never a chance in a high-tempo race. Prior to that, he almost got the better of boom horse Instant Celebrity when going down a nose to the Group 1 performer. With Caitlin Jones’ 1.5kg claim, Viduka looks ideally placed to get his first win since he put two together to start his career.

Tony McEvoy’s gelding has come to Adelaide from Victoria and produced two superb runs. The latter of those was a dominant on-pace victory where he sat outside the leader throughout and kicked clear in the straight to put a gap on his rivals quickly. All four career wins have come on dry surfaces, and the assignment he meets here isn’t much harder than what he faced a fortnight ago. From barrier two after the scratching of Stryke In Style, he maps to get up on speed easily and will prove hard to hold out in the closing stages.

Shayne Cahill’s gelding looked to be a key winning hope throughout the running over 1600m last weekend. With an extra two days to rest, he looks set to run a huge race fourth up and will appreciate Teegan Voorham’s claim. From barrier six, he maps to get a nice cart across the field. If he can slot in nicely in the running, he looks to be over the odds based on his run last weekend.
