Morphettville horse betting preview
There are nine races set down for judgement on the course proper at Morphettville as metropolitan racing returns to South Australia for the first time on a Saturday since the state’s COVID-enforced lockdown. The track has come up a Good 4, with the rail out 6m the entirety of the track. We’re set fair with near-perfect racing conditions, so there should be no excuses for sub-par performances. The first race will jump at 12:36pm local time.
Richard and Chantelle Jolly will be hoping their three-year-old colt can replicate his performance down the straight at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day when he comes back across the border to compete in this BM66 over 1100m. He was a dominant all-the-way winner in the Super Vobis 3YO Plate, where he needed to provide a good kick when challenged at the final furlong marker and did so. He’ll appreciate getting Caitlin Jones back on board with her 1.5kg claim, and considering they have combined for two victories from three attempts, they look hard to go past.
Has there been a more stunning form turnaround than this former jumps galloper for David Jolly? The eight-year-old gelding gave nothing else a chance last time out on the Parks track a fortnight ago after dictating terms with a genuine tempo from up front. Todd Pannell has a superb record aboard the gelding, with the combination yet to miss a placing. He’s won three of his last five starts, and despite the big weight he will need to lug around, he looks to be one of the better bets on the Morphettville program.
It was hard not to get excited for Damien Moyle when this five-year-old gelding saluted on the Parks track a fortnight ago with a gritty all-the-way win, handing the trainer his maiden victory. City Beats gets the services of apprentice Maggie Collett for the first time and will look to take up the running again from barrier seven. In what looks to be one of the harder races on the card, we’re happy to take on the favourite.
