Sandown races tips for May 15

What Sandown Hillside Races
Where Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171
When Wednesday, May 15, 2024
First Race 12:25pm AEST

The Melbourne Racing Club will host a very competitive eight-race card at Sandown on the Hillside track this Wednesday afternoon from 12:25pm local time. With no rain on the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, it is expected that the track will improve from a Soft 5 to a Good 4 rating. After racing with the rail in the +9m position last week, it goes out further to the +12m position for the entire circuit.

Best Bet at Sandown: Little Miss Kubi

Little Miss Kubi was last seen finishing a narrow second behind Moor Mumm at Flemington after flashing up the inside down the straight. This daughter of Headwater should be at peak fitness after two runs back from a spell, and dropping back to 1000m will suit. If Blake Shinn can settle midfield and find a back to follow around the home turn, Little Miss Kubi’s turn of foot late should prove too good.

Next Best at Sandown: Hard To Cross

Coming off a strong performance first-up over 1400m, Hard To Cross steps up to 1600m as he seeks his third win from four starts at the track and trip. On ANZAC Day, this son of All Too Hard finished off strongly along the rail in behind the leaders, but he peaked late and couldn’t challenge in the final strides. However, with the benefit of a run and a rise in trip, Hard To Cross will prove very hard to beat if he performs at a similar level.

Next Best Again at Sandown: Etincelle

Anthony & Sam Freedman will send Entincelle to Sandown for the second time in three starts as the three-year-old gelding seeks his second win in his fourth career race. The son of Grunt was very good when defeating Capzinzi on the Lakeside course, before finishing a close second behind Georgie Get Mad over 1212m at Geelong. With Mark Zahra sticking for his fourth ride on this galloper, it is expected that Enticelle will settle close to the speed before letting down with a strong finish.
