Geelong racecourse

Geelong Racing Club is constantly used throughout a horse racing season and has been since opening operations to the public in 1908 — when they held their first official race meeting. Now the Geelong Racecourse is utilised regularly on the racing calendar with 27 meetings scheduled to take place at the country circuit in 2023.

The Geelong race track is renowned for holding the Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m) as a traditional lead-up race for the Melbourne Cup, taking place 13 days later, and is considered as a perfect hit out for the world’s best.

You only need to reference the likes of Americain (2010) and Dunaden (2011) who used this pattern to win the great race in the first Tuesday in November.

Not only is Geelong Racecourse known for it’s racing, plenty of Australia’s top line horse trainers are based in Geelong – including Group 1 winning trainer Danny O’Brien, and training duo Leon & Troy Corstens.
