Punt Drunk : This Is The Jigsaw Piece At Geelong We Like To See!
Punt Drunk Daily News – Friday, January 8 2021
Friday you magnificent beast, we have bloody missed you! The week that’s been has had it’s struggles, many of us had to go back to work with our “summer coat” on following a good spell in the paddock (the kitchen table) and boy are we glad it’s Friday. We’ve been treated with eight local gallops meetings for a Friday and the team at Horsebetting.com.au will try their best to steer you into a few bank builders before a big day on Saturday!
The right sort of Jigsaw!
Jigsaw showed early speed and then powered home for an easy victory on debut. ?
Keep an eye on Artorius moving forward too… ?

Throughout 2020 all of our partners tried to convince us that doing Jigsaw puzzles were a superb way to get through Lockdown. I call bullshit, they’re frustrating, they’re time consuming and the pieces are as small as our fuse when our ride is four wide without cover the trip. However, Jigsaw from the Cindy Alderson camp was the sort of Jigsaw we like. In Race 1 at Geelong yesterday the colt stepped out on debut and absolutely bolted in under a hold from Michael Walker. The writing was on the wall for Jigsaw after he shat in a Moe trial in the middle of December to the tune of eight lengths. It was a case of getting in the queue a long way out if you were on him, and boy is he one to follow.

If you were on the favourite in the last at Geelong we suggest not watching a replay of Paddy Mac’s runner up performance. It was a disgusting watch if you were on the short priced favourite out of the Symon Wilde stable, after he was crunched in from $3 to jump as a $2 favourite. If you can bear to watch the replay, feel free to put yourself through about 20 seconds of genuine pain.
Willow risking it for The Astrologist
In a time where it’s risky to travel interstate, Craig Williams landed in QLD yesterday and is awaiting a negative Covid-19 test as he prepares for a crack at the featured events on the Magic Millions card next Saturday. The veteran jockey will retain the ride on The Astrologist on Saturday when the gelding competes in the Magic Millions Rising Star for the 3YO and 4YO boys. He is currently without a ride for the 2YO Classic or the 3YO Guineas on Saturday week, but there will be plenty of connections going over plans as to how they can get Willow on board. With Williams travelling to QLD it has left the Punt Drunk team questioning how much you would risk for a Gold Coast outing with an Astrologist…..if it netted us $145,000 (the prize for a first place finish on Saturday) then we’d happily isolate in a hotel room on the Gold Coast.
