Punt Drunk : Is Magic Millions In Doubt After Brisbane Lockdown?
Punt Drunk Daily News – Saturday, January 09 2021
Saturday you beautiful bastard, we meet again! The pub is calling our name, the betting slips are freshly prepared, and boy are we ready for a fat wallet come the end of the day. Our thoughts are with our punting brethren in the greater Brisbane area who have been put into lockdown for three days thanks to the ongoing pandemic. However, surely it isn’t all that bad? Three days on the couch flicking between the cricket and the races? Please, that is as good as a holiday in our opinion!! The team here at Horsebetting will try our hardest to steer you into a couple of winners throughout your lockdown period and hopefully it’s a profitable one for you!
Surely the racing goes on?
Throughout 2020 there were two constants here in Australia. 1) Was a pandemic & 2) the fact racing was the only sport code not to cease throughout the year. However, with the new lockdown enforced to Greater Brisbane, the races on the Gold Coast on Saturday and then the Magic Millions raceday next Saturday appear in grave danger of being called off if this lockdown goes past three days. We aren’t calling ourselves fortune tellers (because they can get in the bin) but you would assume the races will be run and won on Saturday and it will be the same case in a week’s time too!
Oi Cuz, what a trance!
Michael Walker isn’t your normal jockey, but he’s certainly one we love to get around! Walker has come out in recent days to say he visited a hypnotherapist to help him with some changes in his life. He mainly went there for help to quit smoking, but we at Punt Drunk think he may have gone to one late last year when he made a mind-boggling decision. Remember when Cuzzie bro jumped off Prince Of Arran for Dashing Willoughby in the Caulfield Cup and then the Melbourne Cup? Yeah we do too, and we aren’t going to forget that one for some time!
Watch this 2YO trial on Tuesday and Load Up!
Enthaar is the Golden Slipper favourite for a reason! That's a cracking debut from the @cmaherracing-Eustace Filly to take out Race 2 at Randwick! pic.twitter.com/njvOu9Gpwu

In case you needed anymore convincing who is going to win this year’s Blue Diamond Stakes and Golden Slipper then look no further than Enthaar from the Maher & Eustace stable. The filly bolted in on debut under a hold when sitting three wide with no cover in the Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick and quickly put her name up in lights to be a potential superstar. She is currently $3.50 in All-In markets for the Blue Diamond Stakes, and if she can trial well on Tuesday we will be first in line to load up on her in the Blue Diamond and then again in the Golden Slipper. Group 1 racing is just around the corner and boy oh boy wowee are we excited!!
