HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets, quaddie numbers and odds comparison for the nine-race card at Geelong on Friday afternoon. The track is rated a Soft 7 with the rail out 3m for the entire circuit, and the meeting is set to get underway at 12:25pm AEST.
Geelong Best Bet: Vilanculos
Having last been seen in the Listed Geelong Classic back in October, the Danny O’Brien-trained Vilanculos looks a clear best bet on the Geelong card. The resuming three-year-old went to within a length of taking out the Geelong Classic when chasing home the likes of Confrontational and Azaly, and she did manage to beat city winners Rousseau and Alcyone. Jamie Kah jumps back on board the Crowded Houses filly, and with natural improvement off an eight-month spell she will take some beating if Kah can get her some cover from barrier nine.
Race 4 – Vilanculos (#14)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372255_04]
Next Best at Geelong: Bottom Line
Phillip Stokes sends his three-year-old Bottom Line back to Geelong in a bid to go one better than his second-place finish over the 1300m at Geelong on June 6. Having chased home the likes of Outlaws Revenge, Reynolds and Melba Storm in Adelaide in recent times, the Unencumbered gelding looks well placed to bring up a win in the third leg of the quaddie. From barrier three, we expect Ben Allen to lob him into a position just off the heels of the leaders. With a bit of luck at a crucial stage in the home straight, Bottom Line should be putting a gap on this Class 1 field.
Race 8 – Bottom Line (#3)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372255_08]
Geelong Value Bet: Jana
Second-up off a six-month spell, the James Cummings-trained Jana looks the one to be with in the fifth at Geelong. The Lonhro mare had been racing well in New South Wales without winning, and with a bit of luck the move south will see her break her maiden. We expect Fred Kersley to have her settled in the second half of the field, and if she can show a smart turn of foot, she should be hitting the line hard and proving hard to hold out.
