Terang betting tips and form, Monday January 1

Terang tips

COUNTRY racing in NSW kicks off in Terang on Monday as the rural venue hosts a six race card to ring in the new year.

All of NSW’s focus will be on Randwick, but there’s plenty of great racing at Terang, so let’s get stuck in and find some winners ahead of 2018’s first country racing card.

Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1400m)

Lonruse finished third at Horsham last start and will learn a lot from that experience. In a weaker maiden field it could be the best credentialed horse running around.

Race 1 tip: Lonruse to win at Neds

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

In a field of first starters and no-hopers Tough Act looks to be the best chance. Finishing inside the first four twice in its three race career, the horse looks to be improving with every run.

Race 2 tip: Tough Act to win at CrownBet

Race 3 – Benchmark 52 (1200m)

Angelic Trune is the only last-start winner in this field and looks to have by far the best form leading into this one. The horse only narrowly won its maiden event at Bairnsdale, but the win is the only thing that matters.

Angelic Trune looks to have the ability to progress through the grades following the breakthrough win.

Race 3 tip: Angelic Trune to win at Sportsbet

Race 4 – Benchmark 58 (1850m)

Kalangadoo Chrome is at the top of the weights but the clear standout for us. The horse broke the maiden tag last start at Warrnambool as a $21 outsider at Crownbet, and we are anticipating another strong performance to kick off its 2018 campaign.

Race 5 – Handicap Sprint (1125m)

Danigree should be taking out this one. The horse has won two of its last three races and placed in the other.

The last-start win came in benchmark 58 company where it one handsomely, and we are backing the son of Danerich to deliver the goods in the feature.

Race 5 tip: Danigree to win at Neds

Race 6 – Benchamrk 58 (1400m)

Howling Wolf is the best horse in this field.

The horse has either one or placed third in its last four races, and last start it rounded out the placings at Moonee Valley. That is a much higher grade of field than it will face on Monday.

Race 6 tip: Howling Wolf to win at Sportsbet
