Sunday afternoon will see seven races run and won at the Sunshine Coast. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail is out +2m from the 1200m-400m, and true in the remainder. Race 1 jumps at 2:05pm local time (AEST).
Epicurious lines up in a very winnable race on Sunday afternoon, after going down as a well backed favourite last start to Miss Gem who ran well on Friday night. Ryan Wiggins is confident about the horse’s chances at a mile, and should give him a good ride from barrier two. This looks very winnable.
We gave a good push for Elgin last start, and he ran on strongly to finish third. He is starting to become costly for punters, given he has had 20 career starts for zero wins and 10 placings; but after being scratched on Friday night in preference for this we think he is ready to win. He settled further back than we expected last time, so the inside alley should allow him to settle closer under Sean Cormack. We sense he is getting close to that maiden win, and this might be the day at a nice price
Stuart Kendrick elected to scratch this galloper from the last race at Doomben on Saturday to run in this and we think it’s the right move. He was a winner second-up at this track and distance last campaign, and we see no reason why he can’t do it again here. Jake Bayliss will get a nice run from barrier six, behind what looks a fast tempo. He was overs at $51 on Saturday, and the $5.50 looks value even still here.
