MORPHETTVILLE hosts an eight race card in the south of Australia.

There’s plenty of great racing at the premier SA venue this weekend, and we have identified a number of runners we think will deliver the goods come Saturday afternoon.

Race 1 – Benchmark 90 Handicap (1600m)

Burrum’s Buzz has won three of the last five races and looks well placed to make it four from six. The son of Zariz has been making steady progress through the grades and in a smaller field it should have no trouble continuing to make headway.

Burrum’s Buzz is our next best bet of the day at Morphettville

Race 1 tip: Burrum’s Buzz to win ($2.30 at Sportsbet)

Race 2 – Benchmark 82 (2018m)

Exalted Lightning is hunting a hat-trick on Saturday. The horse hammered the field at Gawler in benchmark 70 event under Todd Pannell, who again takes the ride. Will prove hard to beat in this one.

Race 2 tip: Exalted Lightning to win ($2.70 at Neds)

Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

Boom Tune is returning to racing after its unfortunate showing two weeks ago. The horse encountered a lot of trouble but still managed to finish second in a gutsy display. We’re about to see what the horse is made of, and we think it is ready to win at the second attempt.

Race 3 tip: Boom Tune to win ($4.40 at Ladbrokes)

Race 4 – Benchmark 64 (1050m)

Kathy’s Spirit resumes after a lengthy break, but in the second-ever start it is as good a chance as any. On debut the horse won well, and after Darren Weir gave the filly time to mature in the paddock we think it will deliver first up.

Kathy’s Spirit is our best bet of the day at Morphettville

Race 4 tip: Kathy’s Spirit to win ($3.90 at William Hill)

Race 5 – Benchmark 70 (1600m)

Light ‘N’ Fire has been in great recent form, winning two starts back before missing out by a length at the Parks track on December 16. The gelding is a good, honest trier and has enough attributes to take this race out.

Race 5 tip: Light ‘N’ Fire to win ($3.20 at Neds)

Race 6 – Benchmark 70 (1511m)

Embecee Lil should be winning this one. Not only does the horse bring in great form, but it also has Anna Jordsjo’s claim. Everything looks to be falling into place for the Myboycharlie mare which can win its third-straight victory from five starts.

Race 6 tip: Embecee Lil to win ($2.30 at CrownBet)

Race 7 – Benchmark 75 (1200m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1177006_07]

Sawaiki is racing second-up, where it has won at in the past. First up the horse delivered a great performance, winning by half a length at Morphettville, and gelding has saluted at both course and distance in the past.

Race 7 tip: Sawaiki to win at Neds

Race 8 – Benchmark 64 (1050m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1177006_08]

Sky Muster is first-up, where it has won once and placed previously in the last three attempts. The son of Equiano trialed leading into this one, which will help with the fitness. The odds are too big to ignore here.

Race 8 tip: Sky Munster to place ($4 at Neds)
