Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1100m)
Calzaghe Prince has been in good form recently, returning on May 12 with a nose defeat before placing a fortnight later at Rockhampton. The form reads well coming into this race.
Race 1 tip: Calzaghe Prince to win at William Hill
Race 2 – Benchmark 65 (1050m)
Firestar Phoenix is a last-start winner that should deliver back-to-back wins. The horse won well at BM50 level carrying 56.5kg and the mare actually drops weight coming into this race.
Race 2 tip: Firestar Phoenix to win at Neds
Race 3 – Class 6 (2600m)
Chica Peeps has been consistent this preparation, not finishing any worse than fourth across four runs. The horse returns to a distance where it has delivered its best form so we’re backing a return to the top line form for the consistent type.
Race 3 tip: Chica Peeps to win at Sportsbet
Race 4 – Open Handicap (1050m)
Tobasco has won two of its last three starts and we think it can add another win to its resume. The horse smashed them at BM60 level at Bowmen and we’re anticipating another strong performance here.
Race 4 tip: Tobasco to win at Sportsbet
Race 5 – Benchmark 60 (1300m)
Grey Sambucca has been terrific this preparation, winning twice and placing once from four attempts. Despite the poor showing last time out we think the grey gelding can bounce back sharply here.
Race 5 tip: Grey Sambucca to win at William Hill
Race 6 – Open Handicap (1560m)
Worthy Hero has been in hot form, winning in its resuming run before placing in back-to-back events. Last time out the horse only missed out by a nose and we’re thinking the six-year-old can win this one.
Race 6 tip: Worthy Hero to win at Neds
Race 7 – Benchmark 55 (1560m)
Winsomemore drops significantly in trip here and we’re backing a strong performance. The horse has won twice and placed second a further two times from five runs and this appears within its grasp.
Race 7 tip: Winsomemore to win at Ladbrokes
