Gosford free form and quaddie tips for Thursday, October 5

Gosford Thursday Quaddie

WE head to the north of Sydney this Thursday as Gosford hosts an eight-race card filled with value for punters.

A number of huge stables are sending runners around the central coast track, which means we did not have the issue of wading our way through the donkeys to get the quality runners in our quaddie.

The HorseBetting.com.au team has been on fire on the tip lately and that form is looking to continue as the spring ramps up.

Race five on the card is a maiden event over the 1200m trip, which kicks off the quaddie at 3.45 pm.

Race 5 – Maiden (1200m)

Didn’t Mention It is one of the runners going around on Thursday that has some semblance of race day experience, and of the three runners that have been saddled up to compete, it has the best record by far. Unlucky to miss out last time out at Kembla, the filly will be the justified favourite and should be hard to beat.

Tiny Taj has not raced in an event before but has plenty of exposed form from the trial track. The Godolphin runner last run in particular at Warwick Farm was impressive, where Ty Angland steered the filly into second position. A big debut performance is anticipated.

Whitney’s Star’s sole competitive run was lacklustre, but the horse has since returned to the trial track where it has caught the eye of a few. Going down by a head margin at Rosehill on September 4 the filly has shown vast improvement away from the track and will be right in the mix on Thursday.

Race 6 – BM64 (1600m)

Seven-year-old Spinning Gold is racing in terrific form lately. Other than a misstep at the start of month, the horse been winning all before it since August. Winning five races at the distance builds confidence for a good run and the booking of Blake Shinn doesn’t hurt either.

The Iron Maiden has several advantages on the field going into this race that puts it fairly and squarely in the winner’s frame, those being a low weight and a great gate. The veteran mare was far from disgraced at Wyong last time out and winning at both the track and distance bodes well for a good run.

Lozza draws right alongside The Iron Maiden and recent form suggests a big run could be in the offing. Finishing in the money on September 22 at Scone in class 2 company, the six-year-old has been improving after every start and has the capability to take this event out.

Race 7 – Class One Handicap (1200m)

Connoisseur is the $2.80 favourite at Crownbet, which is interesting considering the strength of the field. The Godolphin colt has had three starts for one win, but the fact that the colt is racing in the country for the first time in its career has boosted market confidence.

Aanvoerder ($4.20 at Crownbet) for us is the best runner in the field. An 86 percent placing strike rate attests to the fact there is plenty of talent to work with, and given its last two runs it has gone down by less than one and a half lengths shows that its not far off the mark. Thursday could be the day.

We do not expect the $11 odds about for Sojournist to stick around for much longer. The horse has never missed a placing, has a decent third-up record and comes into the race following a strong performance in Newcastle. What more can the horse do?

Race 8 – Class Two Handicap (1000m)

Forever Dream is racing fresh on Thursday where it has previously saluted in the past. In a wide open affair the $4.80 around at Crownbet could be worth taking given the horse has somewhat of a class advantage on the field and will be racing following some promising trials.

Darhad is seeking a second-straight win. Jumping as an extremely short-priced favourite it duly got the job done, and now the six-race runner gets a chance to step out of the maiden grade and make a statement. Brenton Avdulla – who piloted the horse to its first win – gets the ride and we are expecting a strong showing.

Oakfield Time is a highly competitive horse that will be looking to maintain its recent good form. A fourth placed finish at Randwick a fortnight ago belies the actual running of that race given it just missed out on winning by a head margin. A bounce back showing is expected by us.
