Gold Coast betting tips & form for Saturday, January 20
THE Magic Millions may have come and gone but that doesn’t mean the Gold Coast still doesn’t have a lot to offer on the track.
The GC has a great eight race card in the offing and we have gone through the entire card to provide tips for the meet.
Let’s take a look at which horse’s we’re backing.

Race 1 – Maiden Plate (900m)

Sogni may have failed on debut but is the only horse in the race that has experience. There were a few excuses that day, so we are backing the speedy runner to do the business in the first event.

Race 2 – Benchmark 60 Handicap (900m)

There’s no shortage of speed in this one, so Nourishing’s favourable barrier draw will be telling. The horse also has a great first-up record, winning once and placing twice from four attempts. Back the mare in for a big run.

Race 3 – Class 4 Handicap (1200m)

Desirable Miss gets a great gate to utilise its quality barrier speed and the in-form runner looms as the best horse in a tricky field because of that. The horse has won twice and placed a further three times from its last five, and we’re backing it in once again.

Race 4 – Class 3 Handicap (1800m)

Sornja should deliver under these conditions. The horse gets in a lot better in the weights than a number of its rivals and we believe it can be up around the head of affairs and leading when it matters most.

Race 5 – Maiden Plate (1400m)

Signoria gets a nasty barrier to contend with, but the third-up mare will strip fitter after two great return runs. The horse has made headway with in both starts and we think it will be peaking at the right time.

Race 6 – Benchmark 70 (1400m)

Same Old is looking to continue its form that has seen it win twice from its last three races. The last-start win was at a lower grading, but was impressive enough for us to select it here for us.

Race 7 – Class 1 Handicap (1300m)

Love Battles should be ready to peak after two return runs. The horse has missed out by just a single length in both of its runs this preparation and will be hard to beat with a lower weight than most.

Race 8 – Class 1 Handicap (1400m)

Lucky Three Sevens is first-up, where it has placed in the past. We think it can get into the money upon resumption given it is at the rock bottom of the weights and won’t be interested in engaging in a speed battle. It has the ability to rattle home and round out the numbers.
