First Race 1pm AEDT

Racing heads to Cranbourne Turf Club on Sunday afternoon where an eight-race card is scheduled and Horsbetting’s Victorian form expert presents his best bets, top odds and free quaddie tips. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail in the true position, for the meeting getting underway at 1pm AEDT.

Cranbourne Best Bet – Munchette

In what looks to be a competitive card on Sunday, there looks to be plenty of value in each race. The Greg Eurell-trained Munchette is coming a narrow second-place finish at Moe on December 17 and looks well-placed to go on better at Cranbourne. The four-year-old mare out of Moshe was left flat footed on the home turn when the leader kicked clear, and she couldn’t go with it until it was too late. She draws barrier eight on Sunday and we expect Ethan Brown who retains the ride, will look to have her settled outside the leader, much the same as he did at Moe. If Munchette can go with the leader when the tempo is lifted, then we expect she will be too had to keep out as a clear best bet on the card at a nice price.

Best BetRace 2 – Munchette (#12) $7 with Sportsbet

Next Best Bet at Cranbourne – Rapid Ruby

The Nick Ryan-trained Rapid Ruby has managed four second-placed finishes from five career starts and looks like she will get her chance to break her maiden on Sunday. She has form earlier in the preparation behind subsequent Blue Sapphire Stakes winner Extreme Warrior and a four-length defeat behind a quality colt like that, is more than good enough to take out a maiden event like this. The three-year-old Rubick filly will look to settle in the first four runners under Jamie Mott and if she can lob in the one-one or settle outside the leader, we expect her form lines to stand up and ultimately prove too good in the opening event.

Next BestRace 1 – Rapid Ruby (#12) $6.50 with Sportsbet

Best Value Bet at Cranbourne – Toronasaurus Rex

On the back of a smart win at the Moe 1100m on December 17, we will be hoping the Mick Bell-trained Toronasaurus Rex can build on that maiden win when stepping into BM64 company. The four-year-old out of Toronado managed to dictate terms throughout on the day and managed to burn the candles at both ends when doing enough to hold out his rivals. From the wide barrier, Brian Park will look to use his early speed to his advantage and if he can gain a breather midrace, then we expect Toronasaurus to pack too many punches when it matters most and prove too hard to run down.

Best ValueRace 8 – Naval Envoy (#10) $14 with Ladbrokes
