The Aspiration Quality is a Group 3 race for fillies and mares, run over 1600m under quality handicap conditions at Randwick.
Initially a Listed race, the Aspiration Quality was upgraded to Group 3 status in 2014.
The Aspiration Quality is part of Sydney’s autumn carnival series for fillies and mares, leading into major events like the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes.
Diamond Drille (2014) completed the Aspiration–Queen of the Turf double, while Nettoyer defended her title in 2020 before winning the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).
The 2024 Apsiration Quality, worth $250,000, was won by Lekvarte, defeating Osmose and Rebel Rama.

Recent runnings of the Aspiration Quality:
- The Joseph Pride-trained Lekvarte ($4.20) bolted back into the winners’ enclosure in stylish fashion, storming over the top to claim the 2024 Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m). Getting back to the 1600m was always going to be favourable, and thanks to a patient steer from Tommy Berry, Lekvarte was back to her scintillating best. At the jump a pair of outsiders strolled to the lead, as Podium Queen ($81.00) and Little Mix ($19.00) cruised along to lead them up at a moderate tempo, with the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Osmose ($7.00) gaining the economical run of the race behind them. Rebel Rama ($81.00) looked to cause a major upset when shooting up the inside running rail, while the likes of Premise ($51.00) and Thalassophile ($6.00) were doing their best work late. The leaders were all sitting ducks for Lekvarte in the end, who stormed to victory.
- Thalassophile improved on her last-start BM78 success to find victory again, this time in the 2023 Group 3 Aspiration Quality for the fillies & mares. Craig Williams summed things up perfectly on his fit mare out of Not A Single Doubt, getting back in the field behind a hot tempo with the light-weighted Banana looking to make every post a winner. A line of four attacked line as punters didn’t know where to look in the shadows of the post, with the Chris Waller-trained Thalassophile getting the head down, after taking the gap between short-priced favourite Roots and outsider of the field Pink Ivory.
- Le Lude sustained a strong gallop out in front to take out the 2022 Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Randwick. Trained by John Thompson, the mare settled beautifully under jockey Brock Ryan and kicked clear late to score by 4.16 lengths. The well-timed ride saw Le Lude fend off rivals in the closing stages, proving too strong at the finish. It was a deserved stakes success for the consistent mare, who had been knocking on the door in recent runs.
