Abounding, the victorious filly in Saturday’s Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m), is set to remain in Queensland and bypass a spot in the All Star Mile.

Trained by Rob Heathcote, the Rich Enuff progeny, currently enjoying a well-deserved break in the paddock, earned herself a coveted spot in the All Star Mile (1600m) after clinching the $3 million contest.

Despite this tempting opportunity, Abounding will continue her campaign in the ‘Sunshine State’, with the prestigious Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in June as her primary objective.

Reflecting on the remarkable achievement, Tim Wilson from First Light shared his enthusiasm, stating, “It was unbelievable. It goes without saying, the allure of coming to the Magic Millions and buying a yearling out of the ring, to come back and win a $3 million race is what it’s all about.”

The Magic Millions 3YO Guineas was the second of eight ‘win and you’re in’ races for the 2024 All Star Mile in a revamped qualifying process for the $4 million event on March 16 at Caulfield Racecourse.

The winners of the Karaka Million 3YO Classic (1600m) and Aotearoa Classic (1600m) at Ellerslie on January 27 will be the next qualifiers into All Star Mile calculations.

The victors of the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m), Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m), Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) and Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) will all receive automatic qualification too.
