Takedown enjoying work in preparation for Hong Kong Sprint

Takedown arrived in Hong Kong this week and pleased its connections during track work

TAKEDOWN has arrived in Hong Kong ahead of the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint on December 11 and by all accounts the Australian-trained runner has settled in well.

Fresh after winning the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot, Takedown received a late acceptance for the Hong Kong Sprint and stable representative David Moore, son of trainer Gary Moore, says the four-year-old has adjusted well.

“He’s done fine since he got here and he’s looking happier this morning,” Moore said. “This is the first time he’s been out to the track and he’s enjoying it.”

The son of Stratum has done plenty of travelling this season and Moore doesn’t believe the busy campaign will affect its performance at Sha Tin.

“He’s a well-travelled horse now,” Moore said.

“He raced in Perth last weekend and then we flew him to Melbourne and then up to here, so that’s a lot of travelling for him, but he’s a very, very happy horse right now.

“He took the travelling well, he’s a straightforward type of horse, a gentle giant.”

Takedown is currently a $9 chance at Sportsbet.com.au behind the well-favoured Lucky Bubbles which comes into the feature having finished second in the Wealth Management Jockey Club Handicap behind former Australian Not Listenin’tome.
