A nine race card is set down for judgement on Wednesday afternoon at Strathalbyn where the track has come up a Soft 5 after consistent showers leading up to race day and with the rail in the true position we are set fair for a competitive meeting. The first race is set to jump at 12:45pm local time.

David Jolly would have been thoroughly impressed with how his 3YO filly broke her maiden on Murray Bridge Cup day a fortnight ago. She looked like she had plenty left in the tank when scoring by two lengths and will appreciate the extra 250 metres she gets here. With Kayla Crowther retaining the ride she rates quite highly, and from barrier four she maps to get the run of the race and should prove hard to hold out in the concluding stages.

Karl Zechner and Will Clarken will team up with this 3YO filly who drops back in class and strikes a maiden she should be accounting for easily. She gets in with 54kg’s, and from barrier seven she maps to go back in the field and will have the last look at them in the home straight. First up this campaign she was runner up to the impressive Amuri and then was taking ground off the consistent Extra Time last time out. She looks like she will handle her first attempt at the mile and should be justifying the short price.

It’s hard to get excited about a galloper who was beaten by a country mile last start. But there’s plenty to be forgiving about, considering the saddle shifted not long after the barriers opened. Prior to that she had been building a nice run of form and if she can run up to the form that saw her score convincingly at Gawler three starts back, she will prove hard to hold out at a nice each-way price.
