quaddie of the week

SANDOWN hosts another monster quaddie this week after punters enjoyed big betting fields last Wednesday at the same venue.

Quaddie betting allows punters of all levels to have a go at winning the jackpot and the big winter fields add to the excitement. Three of the four fields have more than 16 entries which will make for even betting races and the odds available will be enticing.

Take your Sandown quaddie with Sportsbet.com.au which starts at 3pm with a benchmark rating 70 where the John O’Shea-trained Kinshachi is looking to notch back-to-back victories.

Leg 1 – Mypunter.com Benchmark R70 (1300m)

Kinshachi was a maiden winner by two lengths at Canberra before placing twice in New South Wales. It then crossed states again with a win at Mornington and it looks a strong chance here again. The John O’Shea-trained filly is nicely bred by Commands and although it is rising in grade, it should be tough to beat with top jockey Craig Williams in the saddle.

Swiss Kiss put three wins together to start the year and it wasn’t far away on a heavy track last start. The Corstens-trained filly is continuing the good form shown by the Swiss Ace progeny and the slick easing of the track should give it a better chance. It is bred to sprint so the increase in distance and the wide draw might not help, but it’s good enough to be included.

Atomic Lokade should be added to the mix for a bit of value. The Danielle Smith-trained filly has won one race from eight starts with five placings and it has finished close behind some smart types. The three-year-old ran second behind Anatola and then second behind the well-performed Egypt at Sandown. Include at an each way price.

Leg 1 tips: 3, 4, 12

Leg 2 – Ladbrokes Live Play 3YO (1300m)

Darren Weir lines up last start winner Deal With It which will have to deal with barrier 20. The three-year-old filly by High Chaparral has all the makings of a potential stayer, but the draw will turn a lot of punters off and dropping back in distance isn’t ideal. Respect in a very even line up, but punters will be wanting a good price.

Four Sisters fought well on debut behind Avenue Whisper and it looked stylish when winning by five lengths at Sale last start. The Mick Kent-trained filly is bred to be a stayer and it must be included in quaddie bets on its last start performance alone. The daughter of Authorized is bred to stay and it should fight out the finish here.

Schwarzlegga comes from the Ellerton/Zahra stables having won its last start at Geelong. The daughter of Pins improved significantly over more ground and the increase to 1300m will suit nicely. All three starts have come on slow tracks so it should get conditions to suit.

Add Sozzini and Just Stellar into combinations as well. Both are strong each way chances.

Leg 2 tips: 2, 5, 7, 9, 11

Leg 3 – Crown Golden Ale R70 (1400m)

Chivadahlii is a consistent gelding for Darren Weir which has won four from 14 starts with six placings. The four-year-old comes into this with back-to-back placings behind Ilgattino and Star Stealer which are both capable types in their own right. Weir always has his horses ticking over nicely and it should be well-supported in the market.

Stablemate Montana is an up-and-coming type which has finished out of the money in only two of its nine starts. The Thorn Park gelding won a class 1 race two starts back at Pakenham and although this is much harder, it gets Craig Williams in the saddle which is a positive sign. Expect it to settle mid-field and produce with a nice sprint in the straight.

Leading Victorian jockey Dwayne Dunn partners Longkissgoodnight which ran well for third when fresh up last start. The Hawkes-trained mare was a maiden winner three starts back by four lengths and it hasn’t started lower than $4 in five career starts so far. Bookmakers should be more generous on this occasion and it could pay a handy each way price.

Leg 3 tips: 6, 13, 16

Leg 4 – Le Pine Funerals R70 (1600m)

Distant Rock has won only three from 23 starts, but it is dropping back in grade and it looms as a major chance. The Freedman-trained gelding has placed three times on this track and its third placing in rating 84 grade two starts back shapes up well for this. Odds should be attractive.

Awakenings is up in grade having won two consecutive races. The Jason Warren-trained gelding scored two narrow victories at Geelong and Pakenham, but it looks talented enough to compete at this level. It stays at a decent weight of 58.5kg and it should be around the mark.

Irada didn’t quite let down at Pakenham when on the second line of betting, but it won in this grade at Sandown prior. The Mick Price-trained filly scored by a neck over Cocklebiddy which is good form and the stable will surely have this talented filly on the mark. Must be included and it should be heavily supported.

Leg 4 tips: 1, 7, 11
