Rosehill racing form, markets and free tips, Saturday July 1

Rosehill racing tips

THE Civic Stakes is the premier race at Rosehill this Saturday where many talented thoroughbreds are in action.

Sir Bacchus is the current favourite for Saturday’s feature race after having no luck in the Octagonal Stakes last start, but there is a host of runners knocking on the door of a stakes win.

Punters have been looking forward to backing many notable runners this Saturday and we have form, markets and free tips for every race, which starts with the Pro Rata ATC Membership 2YO Handicap at 11.25.

Ladbrokes.com.au is offering Best Tote or Starting Price +20% for the first four races at Rosehill which means punters will get some of the best odds of any bookmakers in Australia.

Race 1 – Pro Rata ATC Membership 2YO Handicap (1400m)

Heliosphere scored a narrow win last time out at Warwick Farm and it looks to have plenty of upside. The Gerald Ryan-trained colt drops back in distance which could be the concern, but it will likely settle back from the wide barrier and look to slingshot them late. $2.80 is a touch short for our liking, but follow any positive betting moves.

Hualalai is a betting special for us at $2.40. The two-year-old by Street Cry produced arguably the best run in defeat at Rosehill last start when making ground from the back in a slowly-run race. The Waterhouse/Bott-trained runner relished the wet track and although it won’t be as heavy this time around, its turn-of-foot was superior. It should get punters off to a winning start.

Race 1 tip: Hualalai to win ($2.40) at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 2 – Tab Handicap (1500m)

Lope de Lope was a quality winner over Jaunty at Warwick Farm last start and that form should stack up at this level. The Ron Quinton-trained three-year-old should enjoy stepping up over more ground and dropping right down in weight to 51.5kg makes it a big winning threat. $8 is a great value price.

Just Dreaming continues to defy the odds for trainer Kris Lees. The three-year-old has won four of its eight starts and it had to fight gamely to score its last couple. The daughter of Snitzel is undefeated in two starts at Rosehill and Rachel King is riding in career-best form at the moment. $4 with bookmakers.

Race 2 tip: Lope de Lope to place ($2.40) at Bet365.com

Race 3 – McGrath Estate Agents Handicap (1900m)

Domed hasn’t put a foot wrong in four starts to date, winning two and placing in the other two. The John Thompson-trained filly produced a big finish to win at Canterbury last start and it stays down in the weights. This isn’t the strongest metropolitan race and the three-year-old could take advantage.

Walk The Streets is a winner of only one from seven starts, but it has been knocking on the door and is coming off an game performance at Canterbury. The Chris Waller-trained runner finished third behind Just Dreaming two back and third again behind Fournette earlier in June. Dropping in weight is ideal so consider.

Race 3 tip: Walk The Streets to win ($6.50) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 4 – Now You’re In The Game Handicap (1800m)

Barbass scored a long overdue win last start at Dubbo and the confidence should be up now. The Cameron Crockett-trained gelding paid only $1.26 to win last start and its start prior when running fourth behind Zamex is a better form guide. The inside draw suits and having Hugh Bowman riding is a bonus.

O’lordy has potential at this level and it beat all but Zamex last start in a Highway Handicap. The Danny Williams-trained mare has won and placed at this track and it has indicated a rise in distance won’t worry it. Drawing barrier 16 makes it tough, but expect plenty of gate speed.

Race 4 tip: O’lordy to win ($5) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 5 – Listed ATC Winter Cup (2400m)

Gallic Chieftain comes over from Victoria with winning form. The Darren Weir-trained import scored an impressive win at Moonee Valley where it swept past 2016 Melbourne Cup runner Rose Of Virginia. The four-year-old is fitter now and the drying track conditions will only help its cause. It’s drawn to get a soft run in transit and carrying 53.5kg is a ridiculous weight offset by the 61kg given to Destiny’s Kiss. Value at $2.40.

Montauk is a stranger to the winners enclosure at Rosehill – 12 starts for no wins, but it has been well-backed in the market. The Waller-trained four-year-old is having its first try over this distance which should make for interesting viewing and it should have a good chance of winning with the right conditions.

Race 6 – Tab Handicap (1200m)

Fickle Folly has a fair amount of ability and is an underrated type. The Sue Grills-trained filly finished third behind Artistry at Rosehill earlier this year and it has placed twice since. It handles all track conditions and has good tactical speed. It won’t attract the big bets, but it should run well at each way odds.

Memes is on the quick back up after winning well at Randwick last Saturday. The three-year-old for Jason Coyle makes its own luck out in front which has proved the winning formula this campaign. It has been able to defeat the highly talented In Times Of War and it was only narrowly beaten by New Universe. Looks the one to beat with a similar run up front.

Race 6 tip: Memes to win ($4.40) at WilliamHill.com.au

Race 7 – Civic Stakes (1350m)

Sir Bacchus was desperately unlucky not to win last start in the Octagonal Stakes and it gets its chance at redemption here. The Waller-trained four-year-old was flying home before the gaps closed and it was able to pick itself up and go again. It has won over $430,000 and should be respected at $3.80 having won three from five starts on this track.

Shiraz is long overdue a win and conditions are ideal. The Kim Waugh-trained gelding is a four-time winner on this track and it excels when the sting is out of the surface. It has won four from nine on rain-affected going and dropping in weight will do it plenty of good. $8 is a fair price from bookmakers.

Race 7 tip: Sir Bacchus to win ($3.80) at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 8 – Schweppes Handicap (1100m)

Princefamous is fresh up after running third at Kembla Grange in March and it fires in this state. The Snowden-trained five-year-old has won three of its four fresh up starts which is a deadly record and it has form at this track and distance. The $9.50 is a good price and value punters will be dipping into that.

Sir Plush gets into this race well on the weights at 54.5kg after winning here by 2.8 lengths last start. The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding has a nice record of five wins from 15 starts and it’s undefeated in four runs at this distance. That reads well for this and the money has been firmly placed on the favourite.

Race 8 tip: Sir Plush to win ($2.20) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 9 – Theraces Handicap (1500m)

Carzoff had every right to win last start when the money was on, but it was beaten by an in-form runner. The European import was heavily backed into odds on at Rosehill, but it had to settle for second best behind subsequent winner Collateral. Second up might not have suited it last start so punters should forgive that effort and they’re getting a better price now.

Reneged is carrying some solid each way support at $6 and it looks a good chance after winning at Canterbury last start. The opposition on that occasion was questionable and the big weigh is a worry, so consider as a place chance only.

Race 9 tip: Carzoff to win ($3.10) at CrownBet.com.au
