Best Value Bet Of The Day

    Race 1 – CHANDON HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

The opening event of the day sees the three and four-year-olds do battle over 1100M at Benchmark 78 grade. James Cummings’ Andermatt is first-up since May, but he has had two trials in the past month where he coasted away to win by 1.5L at his most recent. In his two career starts, he has been victorious at Kembla Grange in a race that has produced six subsequent winners, and then was narrowly defeated by Anders at this track and distance on a Heavy 8. That race saw the first two past the post put a margin of 3.5L on the rest of the field and has produced four winners since. Barrier seven and only 52kg on his back gives him every chance. If he’s fit enough fresh, he can be winning.
    Selections: 13-11-4-3

Best Value Bet Of The DayRace 1 – Andermatt (#13) $6.50 with Sportsbet

Race 2 – TAB HIGHWAY CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

The country gallopers get their chance in the TAB Highway over 1400m in race two. Three-year-old Time For War gelding Commando Hunt was an eye-catcher in a similar race a fortnight ago behind Katgully Red. After settling with only two runners behind him, he rattled home to finish second 1.5L off the winner. His two career wins have come on Heavy tracks, and the added 200m should suit him in this. Pure Fuego has won two straight and comes into this with good wet track form, so he should be around the mark.
    Selections: 7-2-3-6

Race 3 – NSW JOCKEYS ASSOCIATION HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

A number of stayers resume in this against the likes of Subedar and Yao Dash who have runs under their belt, so we are leaning to the fitness edge. Subedar was one of our best bets of the day last weekend but he was scratched on race morning. The 2019 Caulfield Guineas fourth placegetter resumed in great fashion to finish second to All Time Legend at Randwick five weeks ago. He has had a trial to tune him up for this and gets in light with 52kg under the in-form Kathy O’Hara. Yao Dash has improved with each run this campaign and should have freshness in his legs after a month let up since his fourth in the Magic Millions Cup.
    Selections: 9-6-8-3

Race 4 – IRRESISTIBLE POOLS & SPAS MILLIE FOX STAKES (1300 METRES)

The Millie Fox Stakes is the first of the feature races this Saturday and race favourite Positive Peace looks hard to beat. The Bjorn Baker-trained mare has won nine of 24 career starts, with five of those coming on rain affected tracks. She will find the front from barrier three under Josh Parr and should lead all of the way. Asiago and She’s Ideel will be coming home strongly from the back.
    Selections: 2-4-7-1

  • Race 5 – IRON JACK SILVER SLIPPER STAKES (1100 METRES)

The two-year-olds will contest the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes for a place in next month’s Golden Slipper. Zethus has done nothing wrong to date winning the Canonbury last time out and has a runner-up effort to Remarque on his CV. He maps to get all of the favours in behind a hot speed from barrier six for Rachel King and should be the fit horse on the scene late. He won his last start on a Soft 7, so he should handle the conditions. Race favourites Home Affairs and Paulele cannot be undermined.
    Selections: 2-5-1-7

      Race 6 – PARRAMATTA CUP (1900 METRES)

The Parramatta Cup gives stayers their chance, with most of these on Sydney Cup paths. Sacramento will be chasing a hattrick of wins after careering away with a 2.3L victory over 2000m at Randwick a month ago. He drops 3.5kg into this, keeps Sam Clipperton aboard and should get all of the favours out in front. The son of Pierro has won two on a soft track and finished fifth in the ATC Derby on a Heavy track, so he should handle the conditions superbly. With fitness on his side, he should be winning again. Dadoozdart will improve on a wet track and out to 1900m, while there will be a big watch on European import, Collide.
      Selections: 11-9-6-4

Best Bet Of The DayRace 6 – Sacramento (#11) $2.30 with Sportsbet

Race 7 – CITY TATTERSALLS CLUB HOBARTVILLE STAKES (1400 METRES)

Some of the Tasman’s top three-year-olds will contest the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes as they head on a Guineas path. Undefeated New Zealander, Aegon comes over to Australia for his first attempt on Australian soil. He has been ultra-impressive in all four of his career wins, he is proven on wet tracks and will appreciate the way this race will be run. North Pacific gets back to a heavy track and will be fitter for the run, while Lion’s Roar adds plenty of value to the exotics.
        Selections: 1-3-7-4

Race 8 – SHARP EXTENSIVE IT HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

The enigmatic Spaceboy was ridden upside down last time out after blowing the start but settled beautifully and chased hard to only finish a length off Written Beauty. Drawn barrier nine on Saturday, Kathy O’Hara will come over and look to settle at the leader’s back on the speedy son of Deep Field. He loves heavy tracks, but is yet to win at Rosehill. French Import Munitions will line up in his second Australian start and should improve greatly on a wet track and second up in the warmer climate.
        Selections: 7-4-12-11

        Race 9 – CLEANAWAY HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Lackeen produced a very impressive trial in his first hit out on Australian soil since joining the James Cummings stable and brings with him some nice French form. Said to be headed towards a Doncaster, the Northern Hemisphere three-year-old could well be too classy for this bunch in the ‘get out stakes’. The wide gate is some concern though. Bazooka has placed behind North Pacific on a heavy track and chased hard behind Never Never River last start, so he could figure at odds.
        Selections: 4-12-1-11
