2021 Millie Fox Stakes betting preview – Saturday, February 20
The Millie Fox Stakes sees nine quality mares take each other on in the fourth race at Rosehill on Saturday. The 1300m Group 2 will be run for $200,000, with the market shaping it as a four-horse war. Positive Peace holds favouritism ahead of Madam Rouge, Subpoenaed and Asiago. The race favourite looks a though she should get the lead to herself and will take some catching, while Exotic Ruby will be handy as well.
We find it hard to go past Positive Peace, who returns to the track for the first time since her failed effort in The Gong. The Bjorn Baker-trained mare has won first up in the past, is undefeated over 1300m and loves this track. From barrier three under Josh Parr, she will roll along on the speed and should prove hard to catch. She relishes wet tracks, so the predicted heavy surface should be to her liking.
Asiago was very good in the spring, finishing one length off Shout The Bar at Group 1 level and then putting in a flashing run in The Hunter at Newcastle. She does some of her best racing when fresh and goes well on wet tracks. From barrier seven, Rachel King will settle a touch off midfield and present her down the centre of the track late. This one is the main danger to Positive Peace.
She’s Ideel will find the 1300m too short, we would imagine, but she is the mare that will add value to exotics should she be on her game. The Bjorn Baker-trained daughter of Dundeel goes extremely well on wet tracks, has run well fresh and races strongly at Rosehill. She will end up in a great spot from barrier four under Jason Collett and should come into the race at the right time. For the each-way punters, here’s your bet.
