Rosehill racing horse betting preview
Nine races will face the starter at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, including the $1,000,000 Golden Gift and the $500,000 Hot Danish Stakes for the fillies and mares. The track is rated a Heavy 8, and the rail finds itself out +3m for the entire circumference of the course. Race 1 jumps at 12:45pm
Joe Pride saddles up mudlark Stockman in an 1800m Benchmark 78, after he ran a brilliant second at this track last weekend. He rattled off the best last 200m of the race and the best 800-400m sectional of the day at Rosehill, so the extra 400m should suit him to a tee here. He has two wins from three starts on a Heavy track and is by Tavistock out of a Zabeel mare which indicates he will relish what will be a genuine staying test. He won two very similar races in heavy going back in the Autumn, and we see no reason why he cannot do it here again.

Total Recall lines up here in the Country Classic over 2000m off a devastating 8.85L victory at Scone last time out over 2200m. He carried 63.5kg that day, so he drops 8kg here and gains Tommy Berry’s experience in the irons. The drop back shouldn’t be a problem, given he goes on to a Heavy track, which he boasts a solid enough record on. Drawn out in barrier 14, Berry will push forward and look to park outside the leader and will make him very hard to catch. He has only missed the place twice in his career, and we expect him to add to his impressive record here.

Radipole was huge last start when third at Randwick as a despised $91 shot, and while we aren’t getting that price again here, he does still represent value. His third placing came to Icebath who absolutely loves the wet and franked the form in the $7.5 million dollar Golden Eagle last Saturday when beaten in a photo. He will box seat from barrier one and he drops 2kg here under Tom Sherry’s claim. He has one win and three placings on wet tracks in the past and he does appear to be on an upward spiral this campaign with Matthew Smith. He does appeal more on a place line here, so we recommend having a 1×4 play ($10 win, $40 place).
