Randwick full form & tips for Wednesday, February 7

SYDNEY racing is in Randwick this Wednesday as the top-tier venue hosts a strong seven race card.

Could we see a late contender for the autumn chime in here?

Let’s take a look at which runners we think will be in with a shot on Wednesday.

Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1000m)

Hiemal trialed well leading into this race and we think it can deliver at the second time of asking. The Godolphin runner has only troubled the starter once for an indifferent sixth, but we think it will return a much better runner this campaign.

Race 1 tip: Hiemal to win ($3.40 at Crownbet)

Race 2 – Maiden Handicap (1400m)

Salvador placed last-time out at Warwick Farm and is as good a chance as any to breakthrough here in a hard-to-read maiden. Barrier four will help, as will the fact that no other runner bar one takes any kind of similar form into this.

Race 2 tip: Salvador to win ($6 at Neds)

Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1100m)

Ridicule should spear out and aim to win this one. From barrier three, the Brad Widdup-trained runner will be right in the mix here and the trials will help bring some fitness into this resuming run.

Race 3 tip: Ridicule to win ($3.10 at Ladbrokes)

Race 4 – Benchmark 75 (1000m)

Last-start winner Akasaki dominated on January 17 at the Farm, and we feel it will go back-to-back here. The horse won by four lengths that day, and from a great gate it’s going to be hard to stop.

Race 4 tip: Akasaki to win ($2.65 at William Hill)

Race 5 – Benchmark 76 (1600m)

Canberra was ordinary first-up but a second-up win in the past suggests it can bounce back here. The horse is paying a great place price in an eight runner field and we think it can round out the money here.

Race 5 tip: Canberra to place ($2.90 at Ladbrokes)

Race 6 – Benchmark 69 (2400m)

Varuska gets an inside draw, and we think the last-start winner can continue on with the good form here. The horse placed in three of its last four runs and we believe the Snowden runner will be in the mix once again.

Race 6 tip: Varuska to win ($4.40 at William Hill)

Race 7 – Benchmark 73 (1400m)

Danzie gets an awful barrier to overcome but the progressive type is good enough to overcome. The Fastnet Rock filly has won two races and placed in the other pair of runs by a less than a combined length. We’re backing Danzie to round out the meet in style.

Race 7 tip: Danzie to win ($3.60 at Crownbet)
