Quaddie tips for Thursday, May 25 races at Pakenham

quaddie tips
PAKENHAM is the venue for our Thursday quaddie this week, and several familiar runners are gracing our predictions once again.

Key runners in the form of Chima, Downhearted and Let’s Go To Rio have all featured in previous quaddies on a Thursday and our summation of the form has all three runners performing well once again under lights at Pakenham.

The HorseBetting.com.au team have been picking winners for fun recently, and this week’s quaddie looks to be a money spinner for the loyal readers.

Race five on the card at Pakenham is the Pakenham Gazette Handicap Class 1, which kicks off the quaddie at 8pm.

Race 5 – Pakenham Gazette Handicap Class 1 (1400m)

A class one race kicks off the quaddie at Pakenham, and there is one standout runner in this race.

Robert Smerdon runner Let’s Go To Rio has missed the placings just once in its career. On Thursday the three-year-old is third up, where it has previously won in the past. Everything is pointing towards the gelding this race comfortably.

Storm Master is the next-best option behind the chief market elect. The three-year-old broke the maiden tag two-weeks ago at Werribee and looks to be a progressive type. The gelding is third up on Thursday where it has previously placed.

Race 6 – Evergreen Turf BM64 (1200m)

Valrouz is second up on Thursday night where it has previously won in the past. Punters will look to the first up failure as a reason to jump off the talented mare but a lot of things went wrong for the eight-year-old so we are anticipating a sharper performance from the 36 race veteran.

Superstar in the making Perfect Command gets an opportunity to add a third win to its three race career.

After a five month layoff it will be interesting to see what shape the gelding will be in, but anything close to peak fitness will see it battling out the finish.

Elegant Queen is a mare that is in dire need of some luck, and Thursday might be the day. The four-year-old ran wide for most of the journey last week but still managed to claim fourth. Draws a much better barrier this time around and will be right in the thick of the action.

Race 7 – Pakenham Produce BM64 (1600m)

Two runners that we highlighted last week in the quaddie run again in the same race this Thursday, and there is no reason to believe the pair will not be battling out the finish again.

Chima jumped as the favourite last week at Pakenham and saluted by a head. It was just the second win of the five-year-old’s career but indicative of the talent the gelding possesses.

The horse that Chima tipped out was Hussor, which will again be one of the runners to beat on Thursday.

The three-year-old emerged from the pack last week and just missed out on toppling Chima, but could have won had it made its move earlier. We were thankful it was a fellow quaddie elect that edged it out otherwise we would have been justifiably upset.

The next-best elect outside our returning duo is Muccino. Across its last two runs the four-year-old has not missed a placing and has finished within a length of the leader on both occasions. This will be the horse’s first attempt at the distance but previous runs suggest it will have the additional journey in it.

Race 8 – Sportsbet Racing Form BM70 (1400m)

Downhearted was a brilliant winner last week as a short-priced favourite and stays at a distance that it has won at a quarter of time it hits the track. The Pakenham course is also a happy hunting ground for the four-year-old having won three times and placed a further two across seven runs.

Another winner from last week was Magwitch, which recorded its second win from five attempts at Pakenham. It also has a great record over the distance where it has won three times from seven attempts. The gelding looks to be one of the main chances in this race.

Devilishly is an in-form mare that has struggled to break through for a win in recent times. The four-year-old has not missed a placing across its last four starts and has only been beyond one and a half lengths of the winner once in that stretch.

If the Hayes and Daberning runner can get a good start from barrier two it will be hard to hold out.
