Willow to Tamworth?
Huge coup for @_TJC & local racing fans. @CWilliamsJockey is confirmed to ride Total Recall in the Tamworth Cup for @Paulmessara & @ArrowfieldStud.
Question for the history buffs, when was the last time a Melbourne Cup winning jockey riding at Tamworth? @MarlowLuke @SkyRacingAU

The Tamworth Cup is on today, and Craig Williams is heading to Australia’s home of country music for the first time in his illustrious career. Willow has just the one ride aboard the Paul Messara-trained Total Recall, who is a $5 second elect in the market. The trip to Tamworth is a bit of a detour before his book of rides at Randwick on Saturday afternoon, and who is to say that he cannot add a Tamworth Cup to his already stacked trophy cabinet? It leaves us pondering which would you rather win: the Tamworth Cup or the Melbourne Cup? We only ask the tough questions here at #PuntDrunk…
Money, money & more money for RV
Turnover on Victorian racing increased 32.6 per cent to a record $5.07 billion in H1 for the 20/21 season, Racing Victoria has announced. https://t.co/sK09ENaT0c

You would think that now we are getting back to something resembling ‘normal’ that those numbers would drop back down to the levels we usually see. And with that sort of money being pumped into the industry, will any of it be used to benefit racing in Victoria? Let’s be honest, we all know the answer to that…

Punt Drunk’s best bet of the day
The Maher & Eustace-trained Laudeylou got her maiden out of the way in impressive fashion at Mornington on April 4. She steps up to BM58 grade and looks well placed to bring up consecutive victories after gaining the soft draw of barrier three. John Allen hops back aboard having previously claimed a third-placing on the Dissident filly, and we expect him to keep her in the winner’s stall this week. Look for Allen to have her up on speed, from where she will take some running down over the 1600m.
