When Fridy, April 23, 2021
First Race 12:12pm AEST

Eight races will be run and won at Gatton on Friday afternoon in what is a standalone Queensland meeting. The track is a Soft 5 and the rail is in the true position for the entire course. Horsebetting.com.au brings you our best bets and quaddie numbers for the meeting which will begin at 12:12pm AEST.

Best Bet – #5 Miss Mckinley

Tony and Maddy Sears will leg Georgie Cartwright aboard their three-year-old filly Miss Mckinley. The filly by Dawn Approach has won her last two starts at Beaudesert and Toowoomba respectively, and has since bolted in to win a trial by four lengths. Cartwright partnered the filly to win her maiden and rode her in the recent trial, so she knows the horse well. Expect the pair to boot through and lead from the inside alley and be too quick first-up over the 1100m.

Best BetRace 6 – Miss Mckinley (#5) $ with Sportsbet

Next Best – #6 Kohiko

Tom Dougall’s gelding, Kohiko was a half length winner at this track and trip last start on April 3 with Zac Lloyd in the saddle. The four-year-old keeps Lloyd and his 3kg apprentice claim aboard and while they rise from a Benchmark 55 to a Benchmark 65, he will be carrying 3kg less than last time around (54kg). The son of Albrecht has had two goes around Gatton now, so he should be accustomed to the tighter track which will be an advantage given five of his rivals have never been here before. He should be handy in the run and can be too good again.

Best Value – #10 A’yun

Michael Nolan saddles up Nozi Tomizawa aboard his maiden filly, A’yun first-up from a spell. Tomizawa has a great record at Gatton, with a winning strike rate of 17% and a return on investment of 23% for punters, which is worth noting. The three-year-old Glass Harmonium filly showed some ability in her first campaign, finishing in the placings in three of her six starts. A 1400m trip first-up should be suitable, although she will eventually want further. The sting out of the track could be advantageous despite it being an unknown. She will get back from barrier 11 and can be finishing off strongly with momentum in the straight.

Best ValueRace 3 – A’yun (#10) $ with Sportsbet
