Punt Drunk : Masked Crusader secures the 2021 Everest spot.

Punt Drunk Daily – 24/4/21

Group 1 racing is upon us yet again, with the All Aged Stakes and the Champagne Stakes the marquee events for us to sink our teeth into today. Add in terrific support cards at Caulfield, Doomben and Morphettville, and boy are we up and about for a day on the punt.

Masked Crusader locked in for The Everest

Masked Crusader
Masked Crusader has secured a spot for The 2021 Everest

The talented sprinter Masked Crusader has been snapped up by The Everest slot held by Max Whitby, Neil Werrett and Col Madden. It comes as no surprise that Werrett and Madden selected Masked Crusader as their slot holder considering they both are part-owner of the Team Hawkes-trained resign star. Masked Crusader joins Nature Strip as the two acceptors for The Everest thus far and look set to renew their rivalry following the much talked about TJ Smith Stakes where they filled the quinella. Nature Strip heads futures markets for the richest sprint race on turf at $4.50, but the newly accepted Masked Crusader is firm in the betting at $8 with last year’s winner Classique Legend splitting the pair at $6 for the event held on October 16 at Royal Randwick.

Punt Drunk’s best bet of the day

From our race-by-race preview at Morphettville and to be honest we can not sum it up any better:
The Mick price-trained Annavisto could not have been any more impressive this campaign with three wins and a second from her runs this campaign. Her sole defeat came with plenty of excuses and on Saturday she looks too hard to go past at Morphettville. She tends to make her own luck up on speed and with Michael Dee on board expect her to take up the running from barrier six in a race that lacks any other possible leaders. Her last two wins at Bendigo and Caulfield leading into this run have been equally as arrogant as each other and if she brings that form here, good luck catching her.

Morphettville – Race 6 – Listed: H C Nitschke Stakes (1400 METRES)Annavisto (#6) $2.20 with Sportsbet
