Piccadillies gets a start at Moonee Valley

The scratchings of Inspired Estrelle and I Am A Star has from the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes has opened the door for Piccadillies to make her debut at Moonee Valley.

The Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained filly is a half sister to Group One winner and successful sire Fastnet Rock.

Lee Freedman says Piccadillies is a filly of quality who has galloped well at Moonee Valley in the lead-up to her debut on Saturday.

She was scratched from the Valley meeting on August 20 then spiked a temperature which forced her withdrawal from the Geelong synthetic meeting six days later.

“I didn’t really want to run her on the synthetic anyway,” Freedman said.

“Maybe the hype is getting ahead of her and it’s a big ask to bring her here for a Listed race first-up but I’ve done it before.”

Picaddillies, who gets a run as second emergency, is the $5 favourite for Saturday’s race with Oregon’s Day at $14.

A Mick Price-trained stablemate to Inspired Estrelle, Oregon’s Day is on a path to the Thousand Guineas.

Inspired Estrelle, a half-sister to former Horse of the Year Lankan Rupee, has been scratched from the 1200m-race after drawing the outside gate.
