Peter Moody won the Group 2 Fillies Classic at Moonee Valley as a happy owner on Saturday

PUNTERS are used to see former trainer Peter Moody winning races at Moonee Valley, but Nurse Kitchen’s win in the Group 2 3YO Fillies Classic came as an owner.

Moody, in partnership with his wife Sarah, bred the daughter of Savabeel which won on debut at Geelong before finishing 10th at Caulfield last start.

The three-year-old filly defied the form heading into the race, but sprouted wings through the middle of runners to down I Am A Star with Sezanne following Nurse Kitchen down the outside.

“Very pleasing, a horse Sarah and I bred, she’s a nice filly and we’ve always had a nice feel for her,” Peter Moody said.

“Very much looking forward to the autumn with her. Great memories at Moonee Valley for me.”

Trainer David Brideoake will likely spell Nurse Kitchen and wait for the autumn which could include a run in The Championships at Randwick.

“She showed us enormous promise from the word go. Big effort at her third start to do this,” Brideoake said. “Today we were lucky.

“You mightn’t see her for awhile, maybe the autumn.”

Brideoake made comment about what it was like training for Peter Moody who had so much success at Moonee Valley with Black Caviar.

“It’s interesting he’s on the other side of the fence now. There’s the odd phone call,” he said.

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy settled Nurse Kitchen well back in the running, but the deteriorating track condition has allowed horses to sit off the pace and flash home down the outside.

“She’s lightly raced. She ran over 1200m last time and didn’t really have a hard run, got into trouble,” McEvoy said.

“She’s very raw but she’s got a nice amount of ability.

Nurse Kitchen paid $19 at Sportsbet.com.au with the well-favoured Sezanne closing at $2.50 and running a gallant second placing.

I Am A Star led into the straight and jockey Steven King decided to stay along the inside. Exocet was following it through and the pair did well to run third and fourth respectively.
