Omei Sword scratched for a second consecutive week
EXCITING filly Omei Sword will be held back for another weekend after the galloper failed to get the tick of approval from trainer Chris Waller.
The three-year-old was held back from last week’s Eskimo Prince Stakes at Randwick after the camp detected a slight muscle strain and Waller is not satisfied the horse has overcome the issue.
The champion trainer said he’s not willing to take any risks on the Silver Shadow Stakes winner.
“She’s still not 100 per cent right, she is working each day but I am reluctant to gallop her until I see her warming up and cooling down without any problems,” Waller said.
“I believe it will still take a few days, but she is certainly improving.”
As a consequence Thousand Guineas winner Global Glamour has been moved from the second line of betting at Ladbrokes.com.au to the outright favourite at the +240 quote.
Waller said the team will now look to the end of February as the horse looks to gear up for a big autumn campaign in Sydney.
“My intentions will be to gallop her next week and reassess, hoping to get her to the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) on Saturday the 25th of February.”
