Michelle Payne remains in hospital
Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne is being carefully monitored in hospital as she recovers from pancreatic surgery after a race fall.
Her brother Patrick Payne told Melbourne Radio RSN her pancreas may have to be removed if it doesn’t heal but at this stage everything was mending well.
Payne reaffirmed his family’s position she should retire but said after talking to her on Saturday night, she was already thinking about her comeback.
