McGillivray’s win soured in stewards’ room
Apprentice jockey Matthew McGillivray’s victory on Pick Me Up has been soured by a four-meeting suspension for careless riding.
Stewards found McGillivray had shifted in and caused interference to fellow apprentice Nick Heywood on Magicaz at the 500m mark of the final race at Randwick on Thursday.
The Tim Martin-trained Pick Me Up went on to claim the TAB Rewards Handicap (1200m) after being sent out the $5 favourite.
McGillivray will be out of action from February 5 and can return to race riding one week later.
