Market mover report for Ipswich, Rosehill and The Valley, June 17

CrownBet Market movers

IT was a day of mixed results last Saturday, but punters landed some big plunges and Ipswich was no exception.

Punters have been targetting the Brisbane winter carnival as the place to find great each way value and the Cup meeting was a happy hunting ground.

The market movers and betting fluctuations were the most significant since the start of the carnival and along with racing at Rosehill and Moonee Valley, it was a profitable day for horse racing punters.

The following report shows how important it is to secure the best early odds, so sign up to CrownBet.com.au and lock in your value.

Market movers report – Ipswich

Race 1: Bettabet Red ($11), from Fleur D’Orage and Real Ego

Punters allowed Bettabet Red to drift out to $14 in the early stages of the market, but it was confidently backed in late. The placegetters were both equally smashed into single figure quotes after opening much longer in the market. The favoured runners all drifted significantly in the betting.

Race 2: William Wallace ($6.50), from Abohar and Cornrow

A big plunge on Abohar ($15 into $4) almost paid off for punters, but it was Kiwi visitor William Wallace which finished over the top. The Bull-trained runner was well-fancied at $4.40 earlier in the week, but the track conditions caused punters to doubt its ability. It drifted out, but punters still took bookmakers to the cleaners.

Race 3: Lord Coconuts ($7), from Courageous Rock and Steamin’

Lord Coconuts is typically the subject of a market move and that was no different on Saturday. It firmed in from $9 and set up a marker mover trifecta. Courageous Rock ($26 – $13) and Steamin’ ($8 – $4.40) gave punters a big result as the dividends continued to roll for value punters.

Race 4: Revenire ($3.90), from Acceptile and Initialize

Revenire fluctuated throughout the week, but punters ultimately decided that it would run as the favourite. The quality runner opened at $5.50 and firmed in late with Initialize drifting from $3.80 to $4.40. Most other runners were quiet in the market.

Race 5: With A Promise ($26), from Tiyatrolani and Raja Ampat

Bookmakers stole one back from the punters with With A Promise drifting from $15 to $26. The Ben Currie-trained runner was too good for its more fancied rivals which included the heavily-backed Tiyatrolani ($5.50 into $2.40).

Race 6: War Baby ($8), from I Feel Good and Walwa

War Baby has created a good club of supporters and they were happy on Saturday. It opened at $21 and was well and truly hammered into $8 as the big money came late. There was a lack of confidence in the shorter-priced runners all week and punters had every reason to look elsewhere. War Baby kicked away for an easy win as favourites Allzin and Hot Money finished well back in the field.

Race 7: Self Sense ($3.40), from Benzini and Jumbo Prince

The domination from the punters continued with Self Sense which was backed in from $10. The Victorian winner was an early firmer during the week, but big money came late to firm it into outright favouritism. The first three favourites finished in the first three placings.

Race 8: Monsieur Gustave ($17), from In His Stride and Federal

There wasn’t much market movement in this race. Handfast was well-supported at long odds, but this was definitely a good result for the bookmakers.

Race 9: Maternal ($2.90), from Kinshachi and Banda Spice

Godolphin ran one-two in the last at Ipswich and punters reaped the rewards. Maternal crashed into $2.90 after opening at $7 and capped off an incredible day for value punters at Ipswich.

Horse to follow from Ipswich: With A Promise

The talented runner is an underrated type which could continue to reward value punters this season.

Market movers report – Rosehill

Race 1: Gaulois ($2.80), from Hualalai and Condor

Gaulois was given a soft lead up front and it rewarded punters. It might have been a late drifter, but the early money was on the Godolphin runner and the third-placed Condor added some value to multiples.

Race 2: Just Dreaming ($8), from Insensata and High Mist

The big money came for Arbeitsam which was gone on the turn. Just Dreaming produced another tough performance and it hovered around its starting price throughout the week. Bookmakers got ahead in this race.

Race 3: Zamex ($2.80), from O’Lordy and Eva Jean

There were a few runners backed at odds, but the market dominance was held by Zamex which came from last to score an impressive victory. Eva Jean was backed into odds of $17 from an opening quote of $26.

Race 4: Test The World ($2.50), from Foreign Affair and Upscale

It was four wins straight for Test The World which opened at $7, but there were many scratchings which affected its starting price. Money also came for Nonpareil which produced another disappointing effort.

Race 5: Liapari ($6), from Moss ‘n’ Dale and Reiby The Red

The betting move for Moss ‘n’ Dale looked home near the post, but it was pipped by Liapari on the line. Liapari held firm in the betting, but punters were feeling the hurt of backing in the favourite from $4.40 to $2.30.

Race 6: Supply And Demand ($4), from Tucanchoo and Montauk

Supply And Demand scored its second consecutive win over Tucanchoo which was the best backed runner in the race. Tucanchoo firmed in from $5.50 to $4.60 in a relatively quiet betting affair.

Race 7: Sir Plush ($5), from Badajoz and Fickle Folly

There was no doubting the class of Sir Plush and punters were keeping it safe in the market. After touching $4.20 earlier in the market it closed at $5, but punters still came out on the right side of the result. Fickle Folly was the biggest move in the race after opening at $10 and closing at $4.60.

Race 8: Collateral ($6), from Carzoff and Speed Hero

It’s hard to determine whether punters suffered a loss as Collateral stayed firm at $6 in the market, but a significant amount of money was placed on French import Carzoff. It looked the winner around the bend after firming in from $4.20 to even money, but it was reeled in late to frustrate punters that secured a great price.

Race 9: Invincible Knight ($8.50), from Pick Me Up and Pakaya Prince

There wasn’t much action in the last race of the day. The winner was a drifter and punters came up just short with both placegetters.

Horse to follow from Rosehill: Hualalai

It stormed home from the back in the opening race and that defied the early track bias and the speed of the race. The winner went very slow up front, but Hualalai made impressive late ground.

Market movers report: Moonee Valley

Race 1: Pure Emotion ($15), from Magic Mila and Josephine Sea

Bookmakers cleaned up in the opening race as Pure Emotion ($10-$15) scored the upset. An even bigger upset was $151 chance Magic Mila finishing second.

Race 2: Unique Lovely ($5.50), from Miss Vesper and If Not Now When

Unique Lovely opened at double figure odds and was heavily backed. If Not Now When was drifting throughout the week and battled on well for third. Airino attracted support, but couldn’t muster in the straight.

Race 3: Essence Of Terror ($8), from Zara Bay and Appalachian Annie

Another runner specked at odds came out on top with Essence Of Terror firming in from $15. The big money in this race came for Zara Bay ($6-$3.40) which had to settle for second, but bookmakers made good money off Miss Vista which was well-supported at $3.20 but failed to fire.

Race 4: Stylish Miss ($26), from Mamzelle Tess and Have Another Glass

It was a result for the bookies with outsider Stylish Miss winning. There was only one other runner at longer odds, but each way punters did catch Have Another Glass which firmed in late.

Race 5: Lord Da Vinci ($4.80), from Camdus and Ruettiger

Defying a betting drift was Lord Da Vinci which continued its impressively consistent streak. After opening at $3.80 it steadily drifted throughout the week as money came for Whistle Baby which never fired a shot.

Race 6: Revolving Door ($6.50), from Liberty Song and Highland Beat

The marker mover report might not fully demonstrate it, but there was big money for Revolving Door. The talented type firmed in from $7 and the confidence was evident with many high-profile punters. Highland Beat was a false favourite at $4.60 and never looked like winning, much like Mystified which firmed into $6 after touching $14 earlier in the week.

Race 7: Black Tomahawk ($51), from Megablast and Show A Star

A $51 winner is never going to be great news for punters and it wasn’t. Kiwi runner Megablast was the big firmer and ran credibly for second. Coldstone was another firmer, but it never showed enough to win as Black Tomahawk was just too good for them late.

Race 8: Petrology ($23), from Magic Consol and Data Point

The upset results continued with Petrology scoring at $23 after opening at $15. Most of the money came for Data Point and the unplaced Heart Starter which failed to impress.

Race 9: Catch That Cat ($13), from Niminypiminy and Floral Fever

All three runners ran at double figure odds which gave bookmakers a nice result to end the day at Moonee Valley. Leodoro was the big go of the race, but it finished well down the track.

Horse to follow from Moonee Valley: Megablast

That was a big effort first up in Australia on a dry track. Wait till this runner gets on rain affected ground where it grows another leg.
