Knee surgery for Winning Rupert

Beaten Magic Millions Guineas favourite Winning Rupert will undergo surgery to remove a bone chip in a fore knee.

The Bjorn Baker-trained colt suffered his first defeat when fourth in Saturday’s $2 million race at the Gold Coast.

Baker told Queensland stewards on Monday, X-rays revealed the problem and Winning Rupert would have surgery later this week.
