Kate Nipperess moved from intensive care

Injured track rider Kate Nipperess has been moved out of intensive care and into the spinal unit at a Sydney hospital.

Nipperess suffered multiple injuries in a fall at Warwick Farm a week ago when the horse she was riding was hit head-on by a riderless horse.

Although she still has no movement in her legs, Nipperess has told Racing NSW she can feel pressure on them and woke up on Thursday with pins and needles in her feet.

On the day of the accident, surgeons operated on a displaced vertebra which relieved pressure on her spine.
