Junction earns Sydney trip with Coast win

Debutant Junction has done plenty wrong but still earned a trip to Sydney with his win at the Gold Coast.

Trainer Bryan Guy had expected Junction to race on the pace on Wednesday but after being slower than expected to jump, the gelding was midfield.

But he produced a strong finish to beat Jinx ‘N’ Drinx by three-quarters of a length in the QTIS Two Year Old (1200m).

“It was a good win as he got lost on the corner. But he lived up to his recent trial win and he can go to Sydney for the Inglis Classic on February 11,” Guy said.

“It is a race for horses sold at the February sales and it is worth $250,000. He won’t be out of place.”

Junction is raced by a Wylie Dalziel-Roy Higgins Racing syndicate and Guy’s son and training partner Dan also has a share in the gelding.

“Wylie has been good to us and sent us several horses over the years. Hopefully, Junction might turn out to be one of the better ones,” Guy said.

While Junction was sold in Sydney, he is by Queensland-based sire Real Saga and is eligible for the QTIS Bonus scheme.
