I’m Too Hot ready to replicate recent run on Friday night

Im Too Hot
PLENTY of punters black-booked I’m Too Hot after its sensational break through win in Mornington on January 28, but up-and-coming trainer Logan McGill believes the public is yet to see the best of his promising three-year-old.

After two underwhelming runs under his former mentor in Mark Riley, McGill took over training duties of I’m Too Hot at the back end of August last year and had an instant impact, guiding the Strategic Maneuver progeny to a dominant 5.5 length win two-weeks ago.

The robust front-running display led many pundits to believe the horse could be a progressive type, and the trainer believes the maiden victory was no flash in the pan.

McGill is adamant the three-year-old can step straight into benchmark company and make an impact on Friday night.

“Yeah I think so,” McGill said of I’m Too Hot’s chances of backing up its maiden win.

“He ran a good time the other day and he hasn’t seemed to take a backwards step.

“He’s still a little bit sticky, but I think the horse will go down in good order and he should take a bit of beating.”

McGill is considered a trainer on the rise in the horse racing industry, and nothing highlights that fact more than I’m Too Hot’s upswing from a horse that struggled to break the maiden to a red-hot prospect going forward.

McGill believes there is plenty of improvement left in this preparation and will be ready to go for its benchmark debut on Friday.

“He was first up for a while so I think he’ll strip a little bit fitter from the run and he seems to have come from the run so hopefully he’ll go to (Moonee Valley) and replicate it.”

A win on Friday night would open up a multitude of options for the horse going forward, but the trainer is happy to take a wait-and-see approach.

“We’re just going to race him through his classes,” McGill said.

“We’ll see how far he can get this prep ratings wise and then we might give him a short let up and target something in the back end of the autumn if he seems up to it.”

I’m Too Hot will run in race 3 at Moonee Valley at 7.30pm.

The odds comparison table below will update closer to the race.
