Ascot Punters

THE weekly meet in the west looms as a great event as Ascot hosts eight races.

Superstar jockey William Pike is still serving his penalty following the Kingston Town Classic indiscretion, so rather than relying on the great man to make you some afternoon money you have our ever reliable tips to make you some late Christmas cash.

Race 1 – Maiden (1000m)

Roger The Dodger paced on debut and the speedy beginner will likely bolt out and give them something to catch. The horse didn’t miss out by a great distance last time out and we are expecting a sharp improvement in its Ascot debut.

Race 1 tip: Roger The Dodger to win at Crownbet

Race 2 – Magic Millions (RS0MW) (1100m)

Double The Pro was backed off the map last time out at Bunbury but was beaten soundly by Gingerella, which looks to be a classy operator. The horse has enough speed at the gates to get across from barrier 12 and it’ll take some beating.

Race 2 tip: Double The Pro to win at Neds

Race 3 – Class 1 Handicap (1400m)

Red Army is the $1.95 favourite at Crownbet for a good reason. The four-year-old hammered the field to break its maiden last-start and the horse looks to be a progressive type.

Red Army is our next best bet of the day at Ascot

Race 3 tip: Red Army to win at ($1.95 at Crownbet)

Race 4 – (RS0LY) (1800m)

Time To Hunt is unlucky not to be chasing a third-straight win on Wednesday. After missing out by a nose two starts back, the horse went down as a $1.31 favourite at Ladbrokes carrying a huge weight. Today it gets a massive 3.5kg relief, which we think will prove the difference.

Race 4 tip: Time To Hunt to win at ($6 at William Hill)

Race 5 – Class 3 Handicap (1500m)

Rich Red is the only last-start winner in a race with not a lot of form to go on, so we are taking the toppy here. The horse won by three and a half lengths that day, and third-up – where it has placed previously – the horse looks well equipped to again perform.

Race 5 tip: Rich Red to win at Ladbrokes

Full Disclosure broke the maiden tag powerfully last time out at Ascot and looks to have the ability to launch through the grades quickly. The horse still seems to be working out the racing caper, but once it puts it all together it will be a handy little mare.

Race 6 tip: Full Disclosure to win at CrownBet

Race 7 – A.T.A Stakes (2200m)

The feature event of the day looks to be a formality to our eye. Trap For Fools is an absolute superstar of the west and will not get beaten. Wednesday will be the horse’s six-straight raceday success. Don’t ask questions, just get on.

Trap For Fools is our best bet of the day

Race 8 – Class 3 (1200m)

It’s Got It All is hunting a third-straight win from as many race starts and we think it rounds out our tipping in the west in style. In its first start it won by a nose, but in the second race it made sure the punters stood up and took notice, winning by a length and a half. No reason to think to winning sequence comes to a close here.

Race 8 tip: It’s Got It All to win ($4.60 at Sportsbet)
