Friday night form and free tips for Moonee Valley, February 10

Moonee Valley

WINNING form is featured throughout the eight-race card at Moonee Valley on Friday night and we have form and free tips available.

The Inglis 55 Second Challenge is back for Heat 12 of the sprinting series, which features some of Victoria’s quickest short-trip specialists.

Race 1 – William Hill Plate (1200m)

Marquant is on debut for Team Hawkes and it has the breeding to suggest a top effort is to be expected. The son of Fastnet Rock and New Zealand mare Captivate will get better with time over these distances and Dwayne Dunn taking the ride is a positive. Tricky draw, but there’s not much to this field.

My Aim Is True was well-backed into $3.90 last time out at Moonee Valley, but found one better. The Hayes/Dabernig-trained filly had solid form prior which included a placing at Mornington in maiden grade. There’s plenty of upside with the three-year-old and it should win shortly.

Macaria is bred to enjoy the longer distances, but Damien Oliver knows how to ride around The Valley and he’s a big addition to the saddle. The inside draw should give it every chance and betting markets will tell the full story.

Race 2 – Reg Delaney Memorial Handicap (1200m)

Count The Interest didn’t quite hit the line at Pakenham last start, but its two wins prior when down in grade commanded respect. The seven-year-old is an eight-time winner from 39 starts and it could give punters plenty of each way value in this.

Boogie Woogie Man was well-backed to win last start and it did the job nicely. The Darren Weir-trained gelding burst between runners at Ballarat and it has enough ability to make it two straight wins. The inside draw should allow it to settle close to the pace and be tough to get past.

John O’Shea lines up Dissolute which drops back in grade after two moderate performances. The son of New Approach won well at Swan Hill three back, but it was quickly thrown in the deep end for no success. This looks more suitable and Craig Williams takes the ride. Follow any positive betting moves.

Race 2 tip: Dissolute to win at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 3 – Adapt Australia R64 Handicap (1000m)

Villa Rosa was a good winner on debut at Mornington and it will likely be well supported again. The Ciaron Maher-trained filly won at odds of $1.24, so the win was to be expected, but it’s up in grade for this and is against a much harder field. It looks to have plenty of upside and another top effort is expected.

Creativity has yet to win a race, but it hasn’t been far behind some nice types. The Ellerton/Zahra-trained filly finished a length behind Selenia on debut before finishing fifth in the Vobis Gold Rush. It showed no speed last start, but expect a good resumption from a lengthy spell here.

I Got Shivers was an easy winner by 1.75 lengths last start and it has some ability. The Robbie Griffiths-trained gelding gets a valuable 2kg claimer in the saddle and it has run quick enough times over this distance to be considered.

Race 3 tip: Villa Rosa to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 4 – Simpson Construction R70 Handicap (1600m)

Seguna showed them a clean pair of heels when winning by over three lengths at Ballarat last start. The Hayes/Dabernig-trained gelding has won two from six and it looks well-placed in this from barrier four with Mark Zahra in the saddle.

Yulong Sheng Long wasn’t beaten by much last start and it should be fit after four runs this campaign. The Mick Price-trained colt was a sound winner prior to that run at Sandown and it should get a good trip in transit from barrier seven with Oliver riding. Likely to be paying handy each way odds.

Cliff Hanger scored a narrow win at Sandown last start which followed a nice showing behind the talented Oak Door. Its form prior came in much harder grades than this and despite carrying the top weight, it should be tough to beat in an even field.

Race 4 tip: Cliff Hanger to place at CrownBet.com.au

Race 5 – Inglis 55 Second Challenge Heat 12 (955m)

My Survivor has won two of its last three starts and it looks a main chance here. The Neven Eades-trained gelding is a nine-year-old which continues to run good races and it caused the big upset last start when winning at odds of $81 at Flemington. This is easier so we wouldn’t be ruling it out.

El Sicario is a talented gelding which didn’t have the best of luck last start, but its form prior was solid. The three-year-old son of Bullbars won its maiden by three lengths at Pakenham in September and it wasn’t far behind Inference two back. Looks a handy runner in this.

Northkape couldn’t continue with the hot pace last start, but its two wins prior were good. The Griffiths-trained mare won back-to-back races at Cranbourne and it’s a three-time winner over this distance. Nathan Punch takes 3kg off its back so include it in selections.

Race 5 tip: El Sicario to win at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 6 – Johnnie Walker Distance R70 (2500m)

Captain Kittinger is a consistent type which won back-to-back races before running third at Pakenham last start. The John Leek Jnr-trained gelding is by Pentire which means it will love this distance and Noel Callow is a good jockey to have in the saddle.

Jimmy Hoffa is a former New Zealand runner which is now with Bevan Laming. The son of Savabeel has yet to perform in three runs at this distance, but it was making late ground at Moonee Valley last start and that could be good enough form for this level. Chance with Dunn in the saddle.

Cry If I Want To has good form coming into this with a fourth behind Crocodile Rock last start. The Price-trained mare has more upset than most in this field and having Craig Williams riding at 54.5kg is a great advantage. Expecting punters to jump on board.

Race 6 tip: Cry If I Want To to win at WilliamHill.com.au

Race 7 – Penang Turf Club R70 (1519m)

Don’tbabylon is a consistent type which gets in beautifully on the weights. The Jarrod McLean-trained mare scored by a length last start and it scored an impressive win three starts back at 3.5 lengths. It has drawn wide, but it carries 52.5kg on its back and it should be competitive.

Strike Force has progressed well this campaign and a top effort looks on the cards. The Michael Moroney-trained gelding finished a close second last time out and its form prior was behind some nice types. It’s ready to strike and it should be well-backed in the betting.

Jest For The Road is in career-best form and it took a good horse to beat it last start. The Corstens-trained gelding finished second behind Portman and that’s great form for a Friday night at Moonee Valley. Ben Allen takes weight off its back and it should go well again.

Race 7 tip: Jest For The Road to win at Bet365.com

Race 8 – 1Print R70 Handicap (1200m)

Anatola has been taking punters money in all three starts this campaign, but it shouldn’t be overlooked now. The Price-trained mare has placed in all three starts at this track and it’s long overdue a big performance. The inside draw is ideal and Beau Mertens takes 2kg off its back.

Adalita showed a good turn-of-foot to win at Pakenham last start and it has a good performance at this distance. The four-year-old mare has won three from six at this distance and despite the wide draw, it should be able to finish off strongly.

A Mist Opportunity scored an impressive win on debut before taking on some tough company. The Hawkes-trained filly finished last behind Foxplay in the Tea Rose Stakes and it wasn’t far behind Pick Me Up last start. That’s strong form and it could feature in the placings.

Race 8 tip: Anatola to place at Sportsbet.com.au
