MELBOURNE’S Saturday afternoon card is at Flemington as Racing HQ hosts a quality nine race event.
There’s great racing everywhere you look across this card, so let’s take a look at the races and see if we can’t pick some winners.

Race 1 – Melbourne Cup Tour Trophy (1200m)
Hear The Chant was great first-up in a BM84FM3U and looms as a winner here. The mare should improve on that run, and while it is back against the boys, there’s enough to suggest it will be able to handle that with ease.
Race 1 tip: Hear The Chant to win ($2.75 at Neds)
Race 2 – Open Handicap (1400m)
Hayes, Hayes and Dabernig runner Muraahib finished within half a length of competitor Scarecrow, and comes into this 3kg better off than its last-start conqueror. We think that will make all the difference here.
Race 2 tip: Muraahib to win ($8 at William Hill)
Race 3 – Hoppegarten Racing Trophy (1100m)
Godolphin filly Demerara is the clear horse to beat here. The three-year-old resumed in stellar fashion last time out, winning by two lengths in a BM783 race at the Valley. Demerara should only get better from here.
Race 3 tip: Demerara to win ($2.45 at Sportsbet)
