Bendigo racing form and free tips, Wednesday November 9

Midweek Tips

THE Melbourne spring carnival is all but finished, but the racing action continues on this week, with a big eight-race card at Bendigo this Wednesday.

Bendigo is one of the most underrated tracks in Australia. Mid-week punters know how profitable the track can be, so we’ve found our best bets for all eight cards on the card.

The day starts with the Schweppes Australia Maiden and be sure to check in with CrownBet.com.au for its Wednesday Racing Special.

Race 1 – Schweppes Australia Maiden (1100m)

Good Therapy was a well-backed runner on debut where it finished second. The Clinton McDonald-trained colt was paying $1.80 to win, but after leading throughout, it was narrowly run down on the line. The son of Starcraft would have appreciate the experience and with some cover from barrier 12, expect it to go close.

Cranium is on debut for Team Hawkes and the addition of Dwayne Dunn in the saddle is a notable one. The son of Helmut is being given a soft introduction to racing, so it’s clearly not a potential top-liner, but respect the combination and the betting market will indicate its true ability.

Race 1 tip: Good Therapy to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 2 – No Fuss Event Hire Maiden (1500m)

Serenity Rose looks a progressive filly from the improving Busuttin/Young stables. The daughter of Dalghar finished third on this track when making its debut last month and there was plenty of support in the betting on that occasion. It put itself in the race and battled on strongly, which suggests it needed a bit of time and it could be ready to strike now. Respect any three-year-old coming out of this stable at the moment.

Kaptive Hero has the form on the board with five placings from 10 starts. The Robbie Griffiths-trained gelding has been knocking on the door with three consecutive placings, including one on this track and it won’t have to improve much here to get that elusive maiden win.

Race 2 tip: Kaptive Hero to win at Bet365.com

Race 3 – Silks Function Centre Maiden (1400m)

Her Command is fresh up after running a disappointing eighth on this track last start, but its form prior was good enough to feature in this. The Shane Fliedner-trained mare placed on this track in May and that run came at this distance where it runs its best races. The daughter of Commands has placed in three from five starts at the 1400m and it should find its feet early this preparation.

Poignant Moment looks a quick improver having finished fourth on debut at Benella. The Ellerton/Zahra-trained filly takes on some older horses in this, but it gets in with a nice weight of 55kg and Dwayne Dunn in the saddle. Its breeding suggests this distance will suit and look for the market push as a betting guide.

Race 3 tip: Her Command to place at CrownBet.com.au

Race 4 – Jayco R64 Handicap (2400m)

Darren Weir lines up last start winner Rakti Roulette which scored easily at Cranbourne. The six-year-old won by 3.75 lengths in this grade last start and it hasn’t been severely punished in the weights. It carries 2kg more than it did on that occasion and there is only one other last-start winner in the field.

Arite Guru escaped the maiden ranks last start with a win at Pakenham and its form prior came in nice form races. The Tony Parker-trained gelding finished fourth behind Roldana at Mornington and sixth behind Super Haze two back which is good form for this and we wouldn’t rule it out from the inside draw and a 5kg weight advantage on Rakti Roulette.

Race 4 tip: Arite Guru to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 5 – Bet365 R70 Handicap (1500m)

Global Assault is a five-time winner from 28 starts which has won and placed on this track. The son of O’Reilly is dropping back in grade having finished fifth in rating 78 grade last start and its form prior to that was good in behind some quality types. It was able to win at Moonee Valley earlier in the year and that form looks solid for a midweek meeting.

Tintaglia is a Darren Weir trained stayer which is working its way up the distances this preparation. It finished fifth behind Kilmacurragh last start which has subsequently run at Flemington on Stakes Day and the slight rise in distance should help its cause. It won back-to-back races over 2400m last preparation and although this is much shorter, it should be considered for the win.

Race 5 tip: Tintaglia to place at Bet365.com

Race 6 – Bendigo Property Services R64 Handicap (1400m)

The Busuttin/Young combination lines up Ceylon which won well last start. The Cape Blanco three-year-old won by two lengths at Cranbourne which suggested it has plenty more wins in store throughout its career. Its debut performance was a second placing behind the talented Carraig Aonair and we think this filly could show up again here with Dunn riding.

Von Classic Hero has won and placed in a fresh state and it could make a winning resumption here. The five-year-old won in this grade three starts back at Geelong by 1.5 lengths and after two solid runs up in grade, it drops back to rating 64 opposition for this. It will have to carry 60.5kg with John Allen in the saddle, but respect its chances.

Race 6 tip: Ceylon to win at WilliamHill.com.au

Race 7 – Mypunter R70 Handicap (1300m)

Du Sumpent is a consistent gelding from the Weir stables which should be well backed here. The four-year-old hasn’t finished worse than second in its last four starts which included a win at Geelong in September. That came by two lengths and it looked good making the rise in grade last start. Looks a talent at this level and it should go close again.

Stella The Boss has the ability to win at this level and it might go over the odds here. The Brad Cole-trained mare won back-to-back races earlier in the year by a combined margin of seven lengths and that kind of form must be respected. It has won and placed at Bendigo which adds to its each way appeal.

Race 7 tip: Du Sumpent to win at CrownBet.com.au

Race 8 – Christmas Party R70 Handicap (1100m)

Danuki battled on well for fourth at Bendigo last start and although it’s rising in grade for this, it could offer each way punters some value. The Clinton McDonald-trained gelding gets the inside draw and it drops in weight, so consider this consistent runner if the odds are appealing.

Money Clip finished third behind Miss Vista at Moonee Valley last start and that form looks great for this level of racing. The seven-year-old wasn’t fancied in the market, but it chased home a stylish type and it is twice a winner on this track. Not getting any younger, but it’s worth including in win bets.

Race 8 tip: Money Clip to win at Sportsbet.com.au
