Azkadellia wins the G1 Queen of the Turf

Melbourne mare Azkadellia has finally delivered on the Group One stage, winning the $1 million Queen of the Turf Stakes at Randwick.

After Group One placings in the Myer Classic, Coolmore Classic and in last week’s Doncaster Mile behind wonder mare Winx, Azkadellia claimed the most important win of her career on Saturday.

She sprinted along the inside section of the track for Damien Oliver to beat Heavens Above and Noble Protector.

“I think when she straightened up she was pretty happy not to see Winx in front of her,” Oliver said.
