Victorian jockeys Brad Rawiller and James Winks will represent Australia at the International Weekend meeting in Mauritius next week.

11 jockeys have been finalised for the two-day international feature meeting on December 3-4 with jockeys from all around the world representing a total of eight countries.

Mauritius International Weekend jockeys:

Brad Rawiller (Australia)
James Winks (Australia)
Rye Joorawon (Mauritius)
Swapneel Rama (Mauritius)
Donavan Mansour (South Africa)
Bernard Fayd’herbe (South Africa)
Maxime Guyon (France)
Ioritz Mendizabal (Spain)

Sean Levey (Swaziland)

Brad Rawiller had ridden at least 100 winners for the past eight seasons and in the 2007/2008 season he kicked home 217 winners.

Rawiller burst onto the international stage when he partnered Weekend Hussler to victory in races such as the Caulfield Guineas and Newmarket Handicap.

James Winks is a multiple Group one-winning rider who won the 2010 Coolmore Stud Stakes with Star Witness and the 2015 Queensland Derby with Magicool.

He has long been considered an underrated jockey in Australia despite riding almost 600 winners.

Along with the Australian jockeys, the main draw card is international jockey Maxime Guyon who has ridden winners in France, UK, Japan and Hong Kong.

The jockeys will compete for an individual jockeys’ prize. Their best eight performances over the weekend will determine the champion based on a points system.

The feature race on the card is The Quantum Insurance Anniversary Cup which currently has seven top-class thoroughbreds engaged.

There is also a lady riders competition in progress which will end on the Sunday. Austria’s Hana Jurankova is the current leader with 198 points, but France’s Lara Le Geay is right in the mix.
