Apprentice Panya conscious after fall
Apprentice jockey Deanne Panya has been taken to hospital after a fall in the Widden Stakes at Rosehill.
Panya was dislodged from the saddle on Sebring Express in Saturday’s Group Three race.
She desperately tried to hang on to the reins but was unable to stop herself from falling under the horse and into the running rail.
The 24-year-old was conscious and in a stable condition and has been taken to the trauma centre at the nearby Westmead Hospital.
