A bad beat and a punter’s favourite in the mid-week Twitter wrap
THE racing season is drawing to a close, but that does not mean that the action is stopping any time soon.
One of HorseBetting.com.au’s absolute favourites is running around at the Valley on Saturday after it looked like it could be potentially spelled, and punters around the nation are rejoicing as they will have another sure-thing leg to add to their weekend racing multi.
On the other side of the coin – and planet – we took a look a look at one of the more heart-breaking incidents to befoul punters this week.
If we are choosing between this and a photo-finish where your runner gets nosed out, we are taking the camera every time. At least you were in with a chance.
Spare a thought for…
Anyone that punted on the horse in the pink.
Jumps races in the UK inevitably throw up a scenario when a jockey has been dislodged and a horse continues on without a rider.
Sometimes you just have to hope the hoop-less horse doesn’t take a liking to your elect.
Riderless horse clearly doesn’t want the one in pink to win… pic.twitter.com/X0xPL3ge34

Conversely, an occurrence like this can be an absolute blessing, just like it was for this unbelieavably lucky punter.
Hahahaha I’m no complaining but made mine win ?

We have all felt the pain of a bad beat on the punt, but we do not think the thoughts of blokes around the world could have summated as well as this tweet.
This is like meeting a girl in a nightclub and her mate wants to leave

Bad beats and nightclub incidents aside, this incident cast our minds back to one of the greatest sporting moments in Australian history.
Punters’ favourite Plein Ciel ready to go after cup scratching
Ready to get your pockets lined this weekend punters?
The superstar Darren Weir import Plein Ciel was a late scratching in Swan Hill Cup after playing up leading into the big one, but the trainer confirmed that his horse – who is “a bit of a lad” – will run at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
After being scratched from Swan Hill Cup Sunday due to a foot issue… @DKWeirRacing has nominated Plein Ciel in a mile at Moonee Valley Sat

The punting public were quick to jump all over the Weir runner as soon as the nominations were announced.
No prizes for tipping him this week but surely the $2 Plein Ciel is value. Should be a $1.5 pop on Sunday!

While the punters are happy that the money spinner will be running around again on Saturday, we cannot help but feel for these guys who made the trip over to see the star run in what would have been its biggest race to date.
@AndrewBensley spoke to DK. Plein Ciel must have ‘played up’ in his stall overnight. Us connections from SA…8hr drive over. Scr. ???

Let’s hope Weir can get the runner up and about this weekend to help ease the pain of that 16 hour round trip.
