Punt Drunk: Has Tabcorp received an offer it can’t refuse?
Punt Drunk racing news – 16/2/21
Welcome back to Punt Drunk – the place to come for horse racing news from a different perspective and plenty of daily racing tips. Let’s get going on this Tuesday morning.
Jye to get his Dosh
An unbeaten, dual G3 winner! Congratulations to @Grahame_Begg, @JChilds47 and the connections of highly talented #RichEnuff filly Dosh, winner of the G3 Blue Diamond Preview (F) @MelbRacingClub ?@GlenloganPark @inglis_sales @TDNAusNZ @anz_news @vicbreeders @vicbreeders pic.twitter.com/7nyBUhJWDm

He won the Melbourne Cup last year, and now Jye McNeil has the chance to add the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes to his resume. With the shithouse injury to Jordan Childs, Jye will hop on the back of the Grahame Begg-trained Dosh – elite name for a horse, by the way – in the race for two-year-olds on Saturday. Dosh is on the third line of Blue Diamond Stakes betting with odds of $11 available with online bookmakers following an all-the-way win in the Blue Diamond Preview for the fillies. There is one big problem for McNeil and Dosh, and that is Enthaar. Boy, does that girl look hard to beat on Saturday! We were keen on Bivouac last weekend to no avail, but it is almost time to declare ‘chips in’ on Enthaar. We’d be happy with an Enthaar/Dosh quinella.
The Wizard of the West is back
William Pike is back in Victoria, and there are plenty of punters who would be jumping around like children knowing they can bomb out in the last at Caulfield with the Wizard of the West. Pike is here on a mission; this time last year he went on to take out the All Star Mile onboard Regal Power, and he will be hoping to repeat the success with Mackinnon Stakes winner Arcadia Queen. He came over and won the Caulfield Guineas in the spring with Ole Kirk, and it would take a brave (or stupid) punter to think he will not do something similar this autumn.
That’s an expensive cashie
Entain has offered $3 billion cash for Tabcorp's wagering arm. #AfterTheLast pic.twitter.com/Oqqnf5ewMc

Entain, which owns Ladbrokes, has tabled Tabcorp a whopping $3 billion offer to buy out their wagering arm. Not only is it $3 billion, it is $3 billion in cold, hard cash. Now, we are no tuckshop ladies here at Punt Drunk, but that is a lot of brown paper bags. This will take some time to settle, but boy, oh boy, would that offer be hard to refuse! Imagine if someone came and offered you a cool $3 billion for your wagering arm?
Tuesday’s Racing Tips – February 16, 2021
Punt Drunk’s best bet of the day
Three-year-old filly Danzadel, trained by Terry Robinson, has had a cracking start to her career with four starts for a win and two placings. With all her podium finishes coming in the 1200m-1400m range and on soft-heavy tracks, this race should really suit her. If Danzadel can get her way, you should see experienced jockey Tommy Berry sit her off midfield and let her go coming into the straight for another win.
Race 6 – Danzadel (#13)
