Metro racing returns to the Kensington circuit at Randwick on Wednesday afternoon, with a competitive eight-part program set for decision. The rail is out +3m all the way around, and although the surface was rated a Heavy 10 at the time of acceptances, the clearing forecast should ensure improving ground. The action is scheduled to get underway at 12:15pm AEST.

Best Bet: Mr Artemisia

Mr Artemisia produced a promising debut at Canterbury on May 1, finishing second after saving ground along the inside rail. The 1100m proved too sharp for the colt by The Autumn Son, with the Chris Waller barn immediately stepping him up to the 1400m in this wide-open maiden contest. Mr Artemisia should lob on the leader’s back from stall one, and provided James McDonald can get into the clear in the final furlong, this guy will take a power of beating.

Eraantyva impressed on debut at Canterbury on May 1, showing a blistering turn of foot to get within a half-length of Super Zippi. The daughter of Zoustar was dragged back to sit last of five turning for home, running out of time as the leader held off the late challenge. From barrier 12, Dylan Gibbons will have no choice but to slot in for cover in the back half of the field, but the rise from 1100m to 1400m should suit, so watch for Eraantyva to finish best.

Best Value: Bestower

Bestower was too strong for Class 3 company at Taree on April 28, going on to score by 1.8 lengths despite the testing Heavy conditions. She was ridden cold before exploding down the centre of the course, suggesting the daughter of Contributor may simply be better than country grade. She’ll be getting back again, but provided Bestower can replicate her last-start performance in metro company, she might have a prominent role to play in the finish.
