What Hawkesbury Races
Where Hawkesbury Race Club – 1 Racecourse Rd, Clarendon NSW 2756
When Tuesday, November 12, 2024
First Race 1:50pm AEDT

Provincial racing returns to Hawkesbury on Tuesday afternoon, with a quickfire seven-part program set for decision. The rail is in the true position for the entire circuit, and with steady rainfall predicted in the lead-up, punters can expect the track to deteriorate into the Soft range on race-day morning. The opening event is scheduled to get underway at 1:50pm local time.

Best Bet at Hawkesbury: Physicist

The Brad Widdup-trained Physicist appears set to peak after an improved effort at Wyong on October 31. The son of So You Think was building into his work late over 1600m, suggesting the rise to 1800m third-up would be ideal. The in-form Tyler Schiller will be legged aboard from barrier six, and provided he can sit within striking distance turning for home, expect Physicist to justify the short quote with Neds.

Next Best at Hawkesbury: Sting In The Tail

Sting In The Tail represents good value with Picklebet as she returns from a 269-day spell. The Chris Waller-trained mare caught the eye in a recent barrier trial at Warwick Farm on October 29, cruising through the wire to suggest she is primed for this first-up assignment. She will be dragged back from barrier eight, but with plenty of speed engaged in this small field of nine, watch for Sting In The Tail to be storming down the centre of the course to claim her maiden success.

Best Value at Hawkesbury: Afloat

The James Cummings-trained Afloat debuts on the back of an impressive trial victory at this course on October 28. The Astern gelding wasn’t asked for much when extending under Jean Van Overmeire, with the three-year-old having plenty left in the locker as he crossed the line in front. He maps to get a mid-field position with cover under Zac Lloyd, and with question marks amongst this field of lightly raced maidens, Afloat looks to be at juicy odds with horse racing bookmakers.
