Hawkesbury racecourse tips, news & meetings

While the Hawkesbury Race Club doesn’t hold any Group 1 events on the racing calendar, the 25 meetings held near the Blue Mountains do have a history of classy gallopers gracing the turf since it was founded in 1871.

Hawkesbury racetrack dimensions & details

Hawkesbury Racecourse has a circumference of approximately 2070m the entire circuit and has a home straight of 282m.

The interesting fact about the Hawkesbury Racecourse dimensions comes at dissecting the chute positions. The first comes for the sprinters at the 1000m starting point coming from a chute, before getting to the course proper, while the same can be said for the stayers. From the 1400m there’s a cut-away rail for the 1600m, 1800m and up to the 2000m markers. It can be a tricky scenario to overcome for jockeys, and they need to be on the top of their game to ensure their mounts don’t get caught wide without cover throughout the journey. Overall the Hawkesbury club is very popular with both trainers and jockeys and sits comfortably among the best racetracks in country NSW.
